This week I enjoy my irises – their colour and grace is a feast for the eyes.
At the front of the house the Beauty bush (Paradise bush in Swedish! I do not know the English word ) is lavishly full of pink flowers. But, on the other side of the house the flower bed is vibrantly blue with irises.
I love the species with not so big flowers, because the golden brown pattern on the petals enhance their beauty.
When dusk is approaching, the flowers grow even more alive and vibrant.
And soon it will be dark…but they are still glowing – the irises. Iridescent.

These are so beautiful, and they certainly do glow so brightly. 🙂
They still do even if there has been a severe shower from thunder and lightining. I’m glad you liked them!
Iridescent irises; just beautiful. Last night I was listening on the radio to someone speaking about northern Scandinavia at this time of the year. She described the colour of the sky on a summer night in terms of blue. I think she said midnight blue. It sounded gorgeous. The changing light on your irises made me think of her words.
Wonderful comment. I didn’t think of the sky like that, but it is. Midnight blue. And it is never really dark.
Gives me much pleasure to think of your sky on this very dark night of rain and possible snow.
such loveliness! those blues are beautiful.
Thank you!
These are fabulous! They look like a painting! Just wonderful!
I’m so glad you liked them!
As always, beautiful flower photos. Your love of them shines through as bright as the sun, and the late evening shot it amazing….I love the light which lingers seemingly forever on the northern horizon at this time of year…and filtered through these beautiful petals its even more delightful 🙂
You are so good with words. You find them and mix them into something even more wonderful. Something I would have liked to say but was unable to. Thank you.
Too kind, but I am certain that you are able to mix and blend Swedish words more wonderfully than me 🙂 its your post and words from which my words flow.
😉
What a beautiful home and garden!!!
Great!!!
Pedro.
Thank you, Pedro! This time of the year it is at its best.
I agree.
Wow they are absolutely beautiful! What stunning colours.
Thank you! I so love that colour…that special blue.
