Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: The Color White

Cee’s challenge is to find the colour White. Click for more entries!

I have chosen three different whites – A ceiling in the beautiful home of a friend of mine, a delicate flower from the Pyreneés and a lovely horse from Jämtland ( photo taken this weekend).

Travel theme: Work

Work – what do I think of when I think of working? At Where’s My Backpack ? Ailsa wants us to show how we think. For me, I guess much of it is about hard work with your hands, but also work together with animals. We will never manage without their help, even if technology is taking over…other values are at stake here…

Amritsar and the Golden Temple

This is 2014. When will they ever learn?

BBC News – Korea: rare family reunions take place.

Today it was on TV. North and South Koreans meet after many  years apart. These meetings are so restricted and often cancelled, which means that many (most) of the 70 000 on the waiting list will never get the chance. Many of them are more than 80 years old.

My husband visited North Korea in 2012 on the 100 years’ jubileé of Kim Il Sung. The man they treat as their God. Ordinary people live in hell here. They starve and infiltrate and are sent to death or to camps never to return. A devastating experience, from which he was glad to escape in one piece. He and his company where never allowed to meet ordinary people, never allowed to walk unguarded, and only allowed to take photos when they were permitted.

At the border the guards confiscated memory cards or emptied them. My husband managed to hide one in his clothes, so the pictures are here…showing parades and city buildings. Everything is grey. I’m glad I didn’t join him on this trip.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: The Color Orange

Orange is beautiful and oranges are tasty. My choices for this challenge are some of my favourite oranges…

New life and new lives

As usual my pot plants get some new soil and some grooming this week in February. But, this year I had to take down one of the big Monstera Deliciosas – it had grown to the ceiling. This weekend I happened to have dinner with some of my old friends who worked together a long time ago in the same building (it does not exist any more) where I got those Monsteras as cuttings, some 38 years ago…So, now I decided to divide my Monstera into big enough pieces to plant, and then hand them out to my friends. A living memory from days gone by.

Of course I have to show some of the orchids starting now – mostly phalaenopsis. In some weeks there will hopefully be more of them – two cattleyas are budding and more phalaenopsis.

Ese’s Weekly Shoot & Quote Challenge: Empty

I feel very at home in an empty church. I feel the most protected. It’s very mystical.
