119 years ago, The Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC, was transformed from a quarry to the lush haven it is today. And it is still run by the same family. Jennie Butchart had a dream, and she made it come true – for future generations to enjoy, spending some lovely hours walking here.

The Sunken garden was such a beauty seen from the top of the stairs. And we were lucky to have delightful weather too.

This is the first gallery from our visit, but there are pictures for one more post. I’ll save it for another grey day…

Yes, everything is grey here in Sweden now, rain and sleet, winter knocking at the door. I hope you too had an uplifting and delightful walk in the gardens!
I loved the images of the Sunken Garden – thank you for a delightful Virtual Tour, AC!
You are welcome, Sue!
🥰
It has to be one of the loveliest gardens I’ve ever seen, Ann-Christine, though only in photographs. Yours do it justice.
I didn’t know that the gardens used to be a quarry. These are gorgeous photos.
We have a bright day today (after many grey ones) but I still really appreciated this burst of colour!
Thank you for letting us walk along with you here in these beautiful gardens Ann-Christine, it’s a wonderful escape from the wild weather we’re having in the Scottish Highlands! 💚 xxx
We certianly enjoyed the nice views of the garden and the shots of the flowers you made. We also had (and have) much rainy days now, so we could use some color 😉 Thanks Leya.
You are welcome!

Your photos are very similar to the ones I took in 2005. It’s a very popular garden on a very beautiful island.
It is. And I guess the only differences might be other flowers in the flower beds. A lovely place.
Goodness. These wonderful photos of what looks an equally wonderful garden would cheer anyone’s heart.
Thank you, Margaret! I guess it is greyish over there too. Terribly windy here now and snow expected this week.
I’m still on Spain where I haven’t once needed a cost or jacket. Home tomorrow where it’s 14° colder, windy and wet. Dreading it …
Oh I understand completely…
It won’t be any consolation, Margaret, but it’s coolish here too- 19C with a fresh breeze. Good for drying the washing! Bright blue skies though, and I’m sorry- I shouldn’t tease!
It was 19C when I left Spain. so to come back to 5C was … well, bracing.
Bracing sounds accurate.. Today we have sunshine from a clear sky and 3- . Milo loves it!
Lucky Milo!

I Ioved that garden when I visited it, beautifully captured. I still have photos I have not posted from there.
