Relax is something we all try to do – and need to do. Sometimes they are hard to get by, those moments…but sooner or later you will learn what works for just you.
I find it very relaxing to walk along the paths of graveyards – especially really old ones. Père Lachaise in Paris, Highgate cemetery in London and the old Jewish burial places in Poland are my favorites.
At home, this place is an unmistakable relaxing spot – with or without Totti!
Summertime, I love to walk out here in the evenings to enjoy the sunset.
My flowers, pot plants, orchids – all of them need their daily attendance. They give me a very relaxing hour every morning.
No shop can compete with bookshops for my attention as well as relaxation. Libraries also offer instant harmony.
But lastly – my infallible remedy against stress and pro relaxation of mind and body – is a walk in the lush green of the forest.

If you know me…you know that the forest is my home. These days are wild orchid days, and when the forest opens up to the light and the stillness of the wetlands and its inhabitants…I will be there for short mindful moments before sunset.
Walking slowly, not to disturb anyone or anything, I follow the boardwalk between nodding armies of cotton grass or bog cotton.
The orchids here are mostly Dactylorhiza with subspecies – marsh orchids. Listera ovata in the middle, lowest row.
In the setting sun, the rays shine enigmatic life to everything growing. The tiny purple marshlocks glow and the grasses throw flames of greens your way.
I rest in the middle of everything – feeling blessed

a delicate dancer in my room.
As I am testing my new camera, I took a series of shots from different angles and in different light. The first two against the TV, then moved to the window for the other two.

There is still time…to live and love the last days of summer. There is still time…to remember the softest moments of nature’s glory – the morning walks and the evening light. Little things…little creatures. Let us rejoice.
These last two nights have been magical. Please join me as I try to convey something of the magic…There is only little time left …in four days the Magic will be broken…
Close to my home, there is a National Reserve for wild orchids –
Last night I spent a couple of hours walking there, just before sunset.
Many of my favourite flowers grow here…
…so Time does not exist when I sit on the boardwalk or just walk slowly through the grasses and the open fields –
All my senses alert and my mind at ease. These days are the best ones in my life.
The very last shimmering hours at Sacha Lodge, we spent canoeing again – and finally, for the sunset over the Amazon, in a high tree tower up in a giant kapok tree.
Let us start with the canoe ride – full up with fresh food and ready for the last adventure!
Finally we reached the last path, hiking to the old kapok tree.
Slowly the sun was fading and the light smoothened out both the landscape and the minds of us six friends sitting in the kapok tree. Each one in his own world…knowing this was the last day, the last hours of our great adventure. The Amazon saying its goodbyes…and us contemplating life’s beauty, in this moment in time
No words needed – only the sounds of the rainforest. A sadness and a joy, a thankfulness and a hope for this wonder to survive, to be given to our children and grandchildren.
In the early morning, we left this Paradise. Of course it showed its most glorious face this day – for us to treasure and to keep in our hearts.
Sacha Lodge will go on helping the locals with free water taxi, school supplies and a medical assistance program – and ecotourism to positively influence the course of land management in the area.
On reaching the Napo River again – a tiny, but clear rainbow appeared in the sky –
