Sparkle! Not much fantasy from me tonight, but I do love the sparkles of New Year’s Eve! Click here for more sparkly adventures! Happy New Year!
I have been sitting in the darkness by the Christmas tree. It’s raining. Some days ago I went to see The Hobbit – the last movie on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. I enjoyed it even if there was too much war and fighting. A sad ending – of course. I was reflecting upon it, there, in the darkness.
I remember when I was young and read all his stories…just How Much I loved them. I think I still do. Black and white – not much grey. And, sometimes I still wish for a Magician to come and put everything right in this world…even if I know things will go wrong again – it’s human nature.
In order to restore my happy mood, I persuaded my children to watch The Intouchables (2011) with me. I love that movie, and I knew they would love it as well. It’s based on a true story, and its positive views and humour concerning the grim life we lead here on Earth cannot be overestimated.
From a dark and rainy Skane, Sweden, I wish you all a
To my help, I’ve had a little Magician of my own – Totti. Maybe that’s why you perhaps do not recognize him in this picture…
No stars to be seen, no snow, no nothing…I live up north in the darkness, so the twinkling I must search for – in my old vaults and chambers…This Christmas will be my number four, blogging, so here are some memorable twinklings from 2011-2013!
As I suffer severely from the darkness, the loss of daylight and the constant grey drizzle this winter, I decided to make a post of the short rays of light on the latest days’ walks. Maybe there are more of us who need some light – I hope you will enjoy them!
Suddenly there was a short glimpse of sunlight on these beautiful straws, resting by my path in the soft wind.
This broken twig, and its bright lichen, caught my eye inside the forest. Hit by a tiny ray, it lay glowing on the dark ground.
A dark green candle provides the soft light of my evenings.
This years’ fiery Christmas flower in my home is a colourful Hippeastrum called ”La Paz”.
May the light be with you all!
Waiting, walking, waiting, eating, walking, waiting, eating – and finally sleeping! Sorry, forgot that we were being awfully much cuddled as well…!
Greetings, Mille and Totti!
Happiness can be many things – why not to have a happy, newly married young man, rummaging with his friends in my kitchen, baking bread by candle light, wearing a funny apron? I guess Ese has many other solutions at her place!
Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.

In the countries up north, as in Sweden where I live, this time of the year artificial light is very important to drive away the darkness. People say our mood up here is as gloomy and dark as this winter season… But on the 4th Sunday before Christmas Eve, we all put up stars and candlesticks in our windows. And they will be up at least until the middle of January. At our tables, one candle each Sunday is lit – in waiting for the birth of Christ.
I would like to share my windows with you – to light up this first Sunday of waiting.
