A gallery of pictures from the little village Ansó – isolated for many years, but rather recently opened up to the world.
After a couple of hours on a narrow, winding road, we finally reached
…Ansó
A charming little mountain village
…with narrow, cobbled streets
We found a great bar with absolutely fresh appetizers and tasty beer
And everyday life went on
…just like the water running through the narrow gorges
On our way back to our hotel, we passed Foz de Arbaiun, a narrow gorge made by the river Salazar, 400 m down. As usual, click to enlarge. (Sometimes needed twice)

On the cliff sides, many vultures have found their homes. We saw at least a dozen coming in. Here they are free to live – nobody can touch them.

Unfortunately we had not brought any pair of binoculars – but the flight of the majestic vultures was still great to watch. We did not see any of the other species.

Very Picturesque. Good photography. I liked the one with the woods and stream and bridge.
I am glad you liked it. I have come to love Spain dearly.
I’ve Loved Spain, ever since I learned that school poetry ”Rain Rain, go to Spain”.
Haha – we had ”The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain”
ha ha ha
Where is this little village? I want to go!!!
It is in Navarra, not far from Sanguesa and Leyre.
Awesome! Lots of places to visit in Spain. I should make a list from your blog 🙂
…You are welcome! Now that I am writing about it, I find things I want to go back and see…
What a lovely spot, A-C.

It is…I’d go back any day.
Beautiful place! I love to discover this little gems in Europe. Even though me grandparents come from Northern Spain, I have not yet visited this part of the country. It looks perfect for a trip by car.
Cheers!
Oh I have come to so much Love your country. I never thought I would fall so deeply and severely in love with it. The countryside, the small villages, the magnificent nature, the friendly people and tasty food and…I could go on forever. I will go back one day for sure.
In fact Spain is the country of my grandparents as I was born in Argentina. But roots are there for sure. Glad you liked it!
Sorry I had forgotten! But you have visited somewhere in Spain?
Yes I have! But not the northern provinces yet! I will do that soon?
You will love it! I especially loved the Basque countryside and their excellent cooking.
Great collection of photographs from the area. The perspective from the gorge is magnificent, especially the one with the vulture (big wing span). Looks like caves built into the sides of the gorge.
I agree about the caves, but I think they are natural. The vultures liked them and the one sitting in the picture also had a mate in there.
Very nice
Thank you – it was. But very tough getting there. Luckily we did not meet any cars on that road.
