This week Ritva invites us to a very interesting challenge – Shoot from Above. Not my ordinary way of shooting, but certainly outside the box!

My first thought for a fitting image was a photo taken in a restaurant in Amsterdam, where the restrooms were in the cellar. On my way down I could not avoid noticing the unusual tiling. Rather spectacular… to my eyes at least!

Then a gallery from my garden and glass house. The shells are from New Zealand, then you find what is left of my favourite flower pot, one of last summer’s flower bowls, and one rusty, decorative ball. Lastly a collection of my daughter’s tinfoil balls ( I get one now and then…) in a glass box.

I love these flowers – or their foliage. The swirling shapes look their best from above. And in the header/opener is a collection of Legotechnic figures put in a box by my granddaughter.
Resilience was last week’s theme and your posts to Anne’s wonderful challenge really showed its importance in our lives. A massive thank you to you all. This week, Ritva presents us with this incredibly interesting theme, and I enjoyed seeing things from above again, although that is not an ordinary winter game. Ritva’s post is beautiful, and it will inspire you to join in. Remember to link back to her original post and to tag Lens-Artists.
Next week it is Egídio’s turn to lead so please make sure to visit his colourful site Saturday 25th January to find out more. Until then, be good and take care.
Great photos and perspectives. Well done.
Thank you, John!
What a wonderful and varied collections. I love the last one in particular. Are they Hosta leaves?
Thank you – no not Hosta. I haven’t found out what they are yet. I asked Jude, she might know.
For someone who’s just trying them out, you have it down perfect. Beautiful shots
♥
I like the composition of the photo of tiles. The mirror is a perfect inclusion into the composition. My favorite, though, is yours. That photo of the swirling lea patterns is mesmerizing.
I’m so glad so many of you love those leaves – they ARE mezmerising!
Thought I commented yesterday, but seems not… Love your eclectic collection, A C Those tiles are dizzying
Thanks, they are…no drinking allowed …
Lovely images, i was not expecting nothing else, but I believe I am in agreement with you what were your favorites, the header and last image, if not well, 😂 They were mine. That is not say anything about the other images, your photos are always inspirational.
Thank you, Ritva! I cannot find out what those leaves are though…
Such a lovely gallery from above 🙂
Thank you!
Tin foil balls – what is the story behind that collection?! I love the seashell collection and, of course, the swirling flowers!
Thank you, Lindy. The foil balls, well, as far as I remember it, my little daughter had some chocolates and handed over the foil balls to me when we were out walking. They count as metal and should be put in that bin. Since then – maybe 20 years ago – she always brings me a ball ( with great ceremonies) every time we meet. I save them in this glass jar and they look great!
Wonderful! The tile made me dizzy. 😜
Me too! I somehow love/hate them…
I love the swirling leaves, but that tiled floor would be a nightmare if you had too much to drink! And what’s with the tinfoil balls?
Jude, no drinks allowed then! The foil balls, well, if I remember it right, my little daughter had eaten some chocolate and handed over the foil balls to me when we were out walking. As they count as metal they should be put in that bin at home. Since then – maybe 20 years ago – she always brings me a new ball ( with great ceremonies) every time we meet. I save them in this glass jar!
Svara
Do you know what those leaves are – name? I have no idea.
Mmm… they look a bit like hostas, the smaller kind.
Maianthemum dilatatum. Must be. The flowers looks just like these too. Strangely enough none of my apps recognises it, but I tried looking at the wild species we have in our forest. It turns out there is a bigger one for gardens!
Yes, you are right. Google lens found them! Also known as False or wild lily of the valley. I love the heart-shaped leaves.
Good examples.
Love the tiles!
Thanks – those tiles are a love/hate object…to me.
Haha! 😃😃
Nice
All your garden details look great from this angle! I especially love the shell collection and those swirling green leaves 💚
Thank you, Sarah – those leaves were mezmerising! I have not found out what they are though…
Lovely post, Ann-Christine and hard to choose a favourite, they are all so beautifully photographed. The flowers win but just, I think it was their luscious green!
I love green too, thank you, Sofia – and the pattern in that green is mezmerising to the eye! I don’t know their name though.
They look like hostas.
Such a tidy granddaughter! I love that Header, Ann-Christine. You always manage to surprise and I so look forward to your posts.
Oh, dearest Jo – you are always so sweet – thank you thank you! ♥
You’ve doe Outside te Box so well! That first shot of the floors is quite intriguing.
Margaret, thanks – I have some love/hate feelings about that floor…but it made a fun photo!
Great observations, Ann Christine.
Thank you, Rupali!
I have also found the walk down to the restrooms in some restaurants to be interesting 😀. Nice shots! I am curious though, about the tin foil balls! What’s the idea?
Thank you! The foil balls, well, if I remember it right, my little daughter had eaten some chocolate and handed over the foil balls to me when we were out walking. What a wonderful family ritual 😀..thanks for sharing!
These are all wonderful Ann-Christine. But I think my favorite is the box carefully filled by your granddaughter ♥️. Perhaps she’s inherited her grandmother’s eye!
Tina, what a sweet comment! Thank you. She is very tidy and I’m not…but she also loves beauty, like I do! We get along quite well so far.
Ann-Christine, you have a very sharp eye for beauty. The tiles are great, as are the other assorted items you displayed. Then, in closing, you have that hypnotizing view of the plant. Fantastic!
Thanks, Egidio! I completely adore those plants, but have no idea of their name…
Thats a pretty massive collection here.
Mostly from my garden – but that was at hand…

The tiled floor is a great photo, would also work well for Becky’s January geometric challenge!
Well, I hate/loved that floor, but it was fun photographing it.
The flowers are fabulous Ann-Christine
♥
What a glorious fun mix from all over 🙂 ! Love the flowers . . . feel warmly enchanted you have kept the foil balls . . . would not like to be going down those restaurant steps if my wine glass had been too full . . . and, do you not have similar shells around your beaches in Sweden since you brought them home? We have them everywhere here . . . love E
Haha, well, no wine glasses here in my stairs and steps… Yes, we do have shells, but I seldom visit beaches in Sweden. And I also think they make lovely memories from foreign beaches to remember.
🙂 ! 🙂 ! 🙂 !
