The Road to Swedish Midsummer…

These last two nights have been magical. Please join me as I try to convey something of the magic…There is only little time left …in four days the Magic will be broken…

Close to my home, there is a National Reserve for wild orchids –

Last night I spent a couple of hours walking there, just before sunset.

Many of my favourite flowers grow here…

…so Time does not exist when I sit on the boardwalk or just walk slowly through the grasses and the open fields –

All my senses alert and my mind at ease. These days are the best ones in my life.

Irland 2017 279_copyWalking Botanical Gardens is a pleasure I never can get enough of…

No matter how large or small – I just have to visit. These pictures are from Dublin.

Thursday Thoughts – Through the Car Window

A fine day – through the window. Windy and cold, but strawberry fields are here…

So…summer it is!

My grandmother could mend any damaged or wanting tree or bush in her large garden. Anything touched by her loving hands would live and flower again.

This may be a simple pelargonia, but a living heritage from my beloved grandmother. She treasured her flowers very much, and used to get cuttings from old friends and relatives. I inherited all grandmother’s pelargonias, about 15 plants, and I am proud to have preserved them for 30 years now. This particular white one was her favourite – White Mårbacka. I have also got a powerful red one and from the start I also had an orange variety. Sadly, I have lost that orange one – I hope she forgives me…

Mormors vita Mårbacka

She had these plants in all her windows, and I learned, already as a little child, how to prune them and plant cuttings. My guess is that these flowers date back at least 60-70 years, or more. A living remembrance of my grandmother, Signe. I talk to them and think of her.

See You Soon!

Time for a short break. Time for National Tests in school and also some days off duty…I went back to work in October and, as usual, the most buzy days are in April and May.

May you all have a great celebration around May 1! Let Spring bring some warm winds now, replacing the rain, snow and hail we have had for some weeks.

For the first time ever, my beautiful magnolia started to unfold…just when Winter decided to return. So, she is standing here, displaying a sadly black and withered sight.  I will just have to show all her usual splendour. Glad to have a camera and old photos these days…
