Travel theme: Plants

Plants, butterflies and insects from a trip to a hidden valley in the Pyrenées. Gorgeous  hikes and nature amazingly full of life.

This Astrantia major, common name great masterwort, and below, Eryngium maritimum, or the sea holly, are two of my favourite plants.

Love plants? There are more of them here, at Ailsa’s.

Cee’s B&W Photo Challenge: Close-ups

Last year I got 11 tulip bulbs from a dear friend and plant expert. Maybe some of you know about ”the little man” and his concerns for ”my” forest and all its inhabitants. He and his wife have travelled the world, collecting memories and rare plants for decades..Now they are too old to travel, but enjoy their wonderful ”Dream garden”.

What a great gift! You can understand how humble and careful I was when planting and tending to these tulips. They are very rare, and one single bulb costs more than 10GBP or 15USD. I still wonder how they could trust me with them…

This week, they shimmer like gems in my garden. Clear red with yellow petals surrounding…and here is a close-up on one of them, in B&W.

Thank you for being featured last week!

Poppy Love

In my garden I suddenly had a couple of poppies…coming from nowhere, they were just there.

This year there are quite many of them, and I love to sit down beside their nodding  heads and watch them unfold…

CFFC: Single Flowers or Bud

In the header – Cattleya Ginny ”Prince”.

Don’t we all love flowers? Visit Cee or join in with a flower post here.

Cattleyas are my absolute favourite orchids. This one has a delicate scent…floating through my rooms when in flower. It is budding right now.

This beauty belongs to a very dear friend of mine. A truly grand Cattleya, and as you can see, the flower is bigger than everything else here, including stems and pot.

As usual, click to enlarge.

Milles kungarike

Milles kungarike

This day, 14 year ago, a remarkable friendship started between me and one of my most beloved friends ever. Mille. He came to us on May 9 and will stay for ever in our memories even if he left us, May 9, two years ago.

These two pictures were among the first ones I posted on my blog. I am very grateful for all the happy memories.
