Do you want to feel safe? Are you in some kind of danger? If you want to live a good life, you might have to blend in. At least sometimes.
Reflections
SL-WEEK: Reflection
For Sylvain Landry – Reflection. I love the way the world changes in reflections. In the header, a photo from somewhere in China, where many separate worlds are revealed …and the second photo is from my forest at home. My world.
Travel theme: Breathe
Ailsa’s Travel theme this week is about taking it easy – and breathe. Nature is the place to be…and that almost says it all for me.
Autumnal crisp air, walking with my dogs and my children – Breathing. In the header, the Swedish lakes and faraway mountains of Lapland.
WPC: Half-Light
One of my favourite poets is William Butler Yeats – here a poem for the WordPress’ Challenge Half-Light.

He Wishes For the Cloths of Heaven
William Butler Yeats
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
Travel Theme: Late
Late – and early. Midnight sun, Nordkapp, Norway
More of late here. Remember, it is never Too late…to join in!
In Between
Rain, sun, snow, storm, sun, rain, and snow again.
A couple of days ago we had all of this on the same day, and then – One Glorious Day. I will take you for a walk that day…if you want to!
There was heavy frost in the early morning – but the sun promised a lovely winter’s day.
Some miles from home, all frost was gone – the sun had been working hard.
Inside the forest though, in the shadows, it was still very cold. I had to put on my gloves for taking photos.
Do you remember the hair frost? This is even a whole hairbrush!
Lake Värsjön is a lake I have never visited before – and it turned out to be a little gem. Lovely paths to walk and the ice like a painting.
The sun was very strong and made it difficult to even look at the ice. No sunglasses…unfortunately. I did not know I would visit a lake!
And, I found a tiny beach – but the water is not hot here…like in Iceland. So, no bathing!
Instead I enjoyed the silence and the warmth of the sun, listening to the creaky sound of the ice breaking up.
Time to return home for breakfast – to make scones, celebrating the joy of having the rest of the morning for my son and myself.
WPC: Alphabet
Alphabet – our communication depends on it. Printing depended on these…no longer in use, but made into beautiful art – of another kind. For more inspirational alphabets, click here.
Thursday Thoughts
I’m back home again…from another journey to another country; meeting its nature, architechture and people. I feel I grow with every meeting and every opportunity I get to learn something new. On thinking back, all my life has been dedicated to learning – and sometimes teaching…
Travelling offers a great way to understand other people and other cultures, that we all know. But, do you often reflect on the ”getting to know yourself” more? Do you prepare your journey thoroughly and do you write down what you see, who you meet and what you learn from them? Maybe you are like me: Always preparing everything, sometimes in detail, and then you do not always keep a diary when reality comes along? Does the new knowledge just stay there without you documenting it?
We are all travellers, and we all travel in our own way. I used to be a writer, now I have become more of a memory photographer. Maybe a futile search for the precious moments to stay…a bit longer.
The abilty to reflect and learn is a great gift.
In fact, it is essential.
FIVE YEARS…

I just opened my computer (having returned from Iceland two hours ago ) – and was met by WordPress reminding me I started this blog 5 years ago today. Where did they go, these five years? So much joy and laughter, so much inspiration, good advice… and so many wonderful friends I have found here in the blogosphere. Unbelievable, I could never have guessed…and yet – this is the truth.
I am very grateful to WordPress for hosting this big family of bloggers around the world. Helping us stay in contact, exchanging opinons, and maybe developing our interests and thoughts in directions we did not know possible – however small or big, we keep climbing new mountains!
I want to say Thank You, to all my readers, commenters and followers for walking this path in my company. Without You, I would not be here. Even if I sometimes think about retiring, when I believe I have nothing more to say or post about, I cannot…will not…stop blogging. You, my friends, are all a very important part of my world!
4 Days to Go – Thursday Thoughts
Soon the winter solstice will be here. Much longed for, maybe more than ever this year. No snow – except for one single, great day – and many dark and drizzly days.
Here a series from one of the better days, this week in fact. Notice the play of warm and cold this time of the year. Warm colours if you turn in the direction of the thin rays of the sun – and the cold colours or darkness if you turn towards the sun itself.
One of my favourite spots in ”my” forest, is the passage between two of the grass meadows to the west. Here, Mille used to stand waiting for me by the big oak tree.

The other spot is on my way back from the open landscape to the forest path. The majestic beech trees all aglow with the last rays of the low sun. 2.30 pm.
