Thursday Thoughts – The Old Sallow

In the garden of our summer house stands a worthy old warden tree – a Sallow. Our children have climbed it every summer, and so did their father when he was a child. Sallows do not get very old, but this tree is a giant, and possibly about 100-150 years old. About double the age it ”should” get.

In the header he was still standing this Spring when we moved in.

But this is the sight that met us when we arrived for the final shut down for winter. Our children were sad to see it, and the only one who did not mind was Milo.

About a third of the trunk had fallen, but fortunately the little house managed without any damage. This sight was what we have feared to meet every Spring on our arrival – and now it was a fact. Hopefully the majestic tree will survive and thrive many years still. There is a sapling striving up right behind it – we tend to it with love.

Top of The World

This weekend we had the great joy of having Milo’s little sister, Arena, here – and there he really got a match…wrestling for two days without end. But also learning things and exploring the world together.

OK, so you’ve got something there, have you…

Let me think…

Maybe… if I try to look really bored..

Well –  women’s list – you know…

Thursday Thoughts – Autumn Hints

Some cool autumn days at our summerhouse – Much is in progress…and nature is slowing down. Totti is adjusting to having Milo around, but as you can see he has also found out how to effectively get away from him…one of his favorite solutions is to jump into the car cage again. Milo cannot reach him there – yet.

Autumn is coming – the crispness of the air, the clear skies and the colours of the trees.

Our little fishing village is preparing for the next season – boats on shore and summer guests gone. Silent mornings, only the swallows’ swift wings dipping in the water.

He is growing so fast…too fast, just like little children do.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Back of Things

Today is the Autumn Equinox, so why not try to show summer turning its back on us?

Here we go…

Summer is Here

…and Mille’s beach is empty. But I love it best before all the summer guests arrive. The temperature is heading towards 30 degrees C, and yesterday we went to our summer cottage to cool down. No rain in sight…only hot winds.

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day in Sweden, and we will celebrate my mother with a tasty lamb dinner. Until then – some summer photos from yesterday!

With the sun going down,  we wish a Good Night to you all!

Travel theme: Woman

Woman

There are so many women in the world…and they are all important. My choices are still easy to make – the two most important women in my own life: My daughter and my mother. My daughter, some years ago, a summer in our cottage by the sea, and my mother hiking one of the Madeiran trails at the age of 75.

Woman – industrious, hard working, smart, loving, kind, helping, generous, caring…

WPC: Against All Odds

Against the odds – my very special and wonderful friend, Mille, survived his severe illness and lived his last two years thanks to my daughter’s loving care. He was so close to death several times, but she managed to save him through natural medicine from the Japanese sea, and through loving care. No veterinary has managed to explain how this really worked – but it did. He was strong and lively throughout his life. And we are so very grateful to have known him. I have had some dogs in my life, but no one like him. I called him Iron Man.

Mille died in May 2014. This is the last picture of him, standing in his beloved water, the sea at our summer house. He had just turned 12.
