WordPress Photo Challenge: Night time

Night time from WordPress – strikes me as maybe my favourite time in urban areas. Mild air, not that many people, no rush…

Transporting? When I started choosing photos I saw they were about walkers, railroads, boats and cars. But they are all standing still, not moving, frozen. No adrenal ferocity. I can feel the smoothness in the air – not a wind. I hope you can feel it too.

Natt – kanske den skönaste tiden i storstäder. Ljumt i luften, inte den där dagliga stressen där blodet pumpar och adrenalitet stiger. När jag ser på de bilder jag valt, ser jag transport, men rörelse i stillastående. Fotgängare, tåg och räls, båtar och bilar. Alla står de stilla i den sammetsmjuka natten – inte en vind. Hoppas du också kan känna det.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Endurance, and Travel theme: Strong

This week I am in for combining two challenges, the WPC and Ailsa’s Travel theme. I just could not resist this…

Of course it has to be a tree…enduring hundreds of years, every season’s challenges – rain, heat, draught, storm, frost, snow – still standing tall and strong. In Sweden no other tree but the giant old oak trees measure up to this concept.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Humanity

Humanity is the WP challenge – what first comes to my mind is all human beings collectively – the human race. Then the human nature – what does it mean, being human?

 

We live in this world, on this Earth together
We travel, we try to find our own way in life
Eating and…
…drinking are essential to stay alive
We start families – and we read and learn
Working together is a must – and, oh, the joy!
Communication – more and more important to us
We try to build bridges over gigantic gaps…physical and psychological
Living without art and stories and fantasy – impossible…
…but we pay too much attention to our outward qualities…
…and everything is not what it seems to be
Secondly, there’s the quality of being humane – kindness and benevolence. Tolerance.

 

How we treat the lonely man in the street…
…and our best friends, the animals
…and try to give our newcomers on this planet a positive start

Weekly Photo Challenge: Adventure

The WordPress challenge this week is about adventure. The greatest adventure is Life, the life we have been given. We don’t know anything about what’s waiting just around the corner…we only know that we all are going to die one day. This is what we all have in common.

My greatest adventure then, is following my children grow up and helping them discover the world, themselves and their special gifts and possibilities.

My daughter, my eldest child, is now turning 24. Even if she has travelled with us to many places in the world, her greatest adventure was living and working with nature issues in New Zealand. She stayed for two months, learned many important things, and was a different person when she came back home.

 

My son has not yet been working abroad, but here he is hiking the Azoric island of Flores. A great adventure for us all.

So…following the two of them along their different paths…

…on their adventures – is my great adventure. And the thing is, that you never know what’s waiting around the corner. What is prepared just for you? Surely an adventure worth entering upon!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Silhouette

WPC this week is about silhouettes – so, I’ve picked up a series from Gran Canaria. This was a velvet evening walking on the beach on our way home. A couple was standing there, when a ship with partying people came sailing.

When we go to our summer house, this is the view just before we turn the last corner…we call it ”Hästviken”,. This is truly summer to me. And now, soon, this view means the final piece of summer when we say goodbye and leave for home.
