Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Overlooked

Små, oansenliga och förbisedda – jag tycker mycket om att få lyfta fram dessa de minsta. LetsBeWild låter oss göra det den här veckan. Ofta är det något alldeles särskilt som händer som får oss att se dem…de där oansenliga. Det kan vara morgonens daggdroppar eller kanske en solstråle som plötsligt faller rakt på någon som levt länge i skymundan. Visst känns det gott när de plötsligt får nytt liv och står framför oss som lysande juveler!

This week the online magazine LetsBeWild is making us think of things overlooked in nature. I like things overlooked. Often they are small and insignificant, but suddenly something happens that makes them seen to the world. It can be the soft sparkle of morning dew or a ray of sunshine gone astray… And, this is exactly what happened when I found the beauty of these.

The freshness of the morning dew called my attention to last year’s small capsules harbouring this year’s flowers.

They shone like true gems that grey morning.

Rambling through the woods a ray of sunshine hit these tiny mushrooms and made them glow – showing off their true beauty.

Weekly Photo Challenge: A Day in My Life

Från WordPress kommer en utmaning om att visa en dag i sitt liv. Tursamt nog hade jag en fantastiskt fin dag hos min vän Lena – den turkosa damen – i Halmstad på Långfredagen. Lena har inrett sitt ”dockskåpshem” i väl genomtänkt turkosblå stil. Fullständigt charmerande!

A day in my life – what could be better than my Good Friday in Halmstad? My dear friend and relative, Lena, is called the turquoise lady – you will soon see why… This blue is her colour, and it permeates her life in a spectacular way. Enjoy my day!

Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Distant

Påskens utmaning gäller att visa på något avlägset och långt borta. Våren, kanske? Lite för abstrakt för att fånga på foto, men kylslagna bilder från havet vid Halmstad kan duga. Hamnen och fyren långtifrån känns avlägsna båda.

This weekend we went to a town on the west coast of Sweden. The weather wasn’t too good, cold an windy, but when you have dogs any weather is OK. So, we ventured along the coast line for an hour or so, and I found a distant beacon by the distant harbour… suitable for LetsBeWilds challenge: Distant.

Veckans utmaning är reflektions eller speglingar. Som vanligt finns det fantastiska bidrag om du tittar in på länken nedan! Själv bidrar jag med en bild från vackra lilla Arboga. En mycket gammal stad som fick sina privilegier redan på 1200-talet, men var bebodd långt före dess. Arbogaån och husen längs med den är otroligt vackra.

As the online magazine LetsBeWild challenges us with Reflections this week, I thought I would send this entry from an old city in Sweden – Arboga.

The beautiful city of Arboga is known to have existed as a town since the 13th century but the area has been inhabited since around 900 AD. The name is a bit peculiar, but it’s originally Arbugæ and consists of the two words ”Ar” which in ancient Swedish means river and bughi which means ”bend” . So, together the meaning becomes River bend.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

Framtiden – ja, vad vet vi om den? Hopp och önskningar om den kan vi ha, men vi kan aldrig veta vad den bär med sig. Hösten 2011 hade Wanås slott Yoko Ono på besök. Hennes utställning innebar att du fick vara delaktig, och egentligen var det du själv som gjorde utställningen. Hon hade bara försett oss med ramarna för den.

Unga träd fyllda av våra önskningar och förhoppningar inför framtiden – det kändes mäktigt.

Two years ago Yoko Ono had an exhibition at Wanås Castle, close by where I live. Every year they have great outdoor exhibitions and they are often interactive. This time we could write down our hopes and wishes for the future and hang them in rows of young trees. It was a silent morning and the sun was just peeping through from the raindrops fallen.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lunchtime

Lunch på språng…nästan värre än vanligt. Men god nog att hålla mig vid liv resten av dagen! Det är så att det som inte blir gjort i skolan före påsk – det blir inte riktigt gjort. Så tiden just före påsk är hektisk. Sen har ju skolverket påpassligt nog lagt alla nationella prov samtidigt, samt utökat antalet prov med minst en tredjedel de senaste åren.

The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge had me chasing some beautiful lunch tables...but. These last few weeks before Easter are just smacked with work and students wanting to finish old tests and help polishing for new ones. National tests are all over the place and then we had a dear collegue dying on us. Just like that – totally unexpected.

So, my inconspicuous lunch today…can you even find it? I hardly could – and I had to eat it standing…

Where did I put it now…

…and what was it really? At least far from the flashy candle lit ones I prefer…

but good enough to help me through the day!

Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Spring

Jag åkte söderut för att leta vårtecken…och det här är vad jag fann! Dessutom hörde jag lärkan, som väl lurats hit av de 10-12 plusgrader vi hade i veckan. Tyvärr lär hon inte klara av nästa veckas snöstorm och minusgrader (- om SMHI får rätt). Det dröjer innan våren är här. Man får njuta av dessa soliga stunder, som idag!

I went about 100 kilometres south of my home town – in search for Spring. Not only because Spring is this week’s challenge for the online magazine LetsBeWild, but because I really want to find some signs of its arrival. This winter has been a long and tough one, and unfortunately we are expecting hard winds, -18 C and another 20-30 centimetres of snow next week.

So, these are my findings from Lund and from places more close to home…I also heard the lark singing! Poor lark next week, though, as they nest on the ground she will most certainly freeze to death. Migrating birds are often fooled by temperatures here of up to +10 C, and venture over the sea. Sometimes they are lucky, but obviously not this time.

Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Black and White

Jag älskar kyrkogårdar och gamla ruiner, så när temat för onlinetidningen LetsBeWild den här gången var Svart och Vitt – då var mina bilder givna. Scarborough med Bram Stokers Whitby som kuliss för greve Dracula och Haworth med den fantastiskt vackra kyrkogården intill den prästgård där systrarna Brontë växte upp. Här står de vittrade gravstenar som kantade Lucys nattliga vandringar och här slingrar de stigar som andades av Cathys och Heathcliffs förtärande kärlek. Vandra med mig i Bram Stokers och Emily Brontës fotspår!

I love to visit churches, ruins and old graveyards, so when the theme from LetsBeWild this week was Black and White there was no doubt where I would go…to Scarborough in England. Haworth and the parsonage, where the famous Brontë sisters lived, and Whitby with its Dracula setting from Bram Stokers legendary novel. My photos were not in black and white from the start, but it was allowed to change them for the challenge. So, walk with me in the footsteps of Stoker and the Brontës!

Here in Whitby Bram Stoker found a setting worthy of count Dracula, and in this graveyard Lucy was sleepwalking and sitting in the night on one of the benches high above the sea.

The Brontë parsonage with its beautiful graveyard… I could feel the prescence of Cathy and Heathcliff – their consuming love for ever alive in Emily Brontës masterpiece Wuthering Heights.

Mina bilder till temat blir varierade – men, tanken är att om du tittar upp från din mobil eller din dator ibland, så finns det en plats för dig att kalla Hem också. Se upp så att du inte förlorar greppet om den mitt i all teknik och utveckling!

Look Up! Is the theme for LetBeWild this week. I have chosen pictures thinking about both mind and body… You can easily lose yourself in this world of technology, at least if you are young, and maybe lose that basic, important feeling of a caring home and warm belonging. So, a little reminder from me…
