My photo was taken today at Hallands Väderö on the west coast of Sweden, where we had our introduction days for the new students.

Bekymmerslös på svenska, men fri från bekymmer låter mycket skönare. Som så ofta säger det engelska ordet mycket tydligare vad det är frågan om. Men, hur visar jag en känsla som den? Vilken eller vilka bilder kan över huvud taget visa den?
Naturligtvis ligger bilden i mig och i min kropp och själ. Det beror på min bakgrund, mitt yrke och den kultur och geografi jag är född i. Det beror på…mycket. Jag har funderat ett tag och kommit fram till några nyckelsituationer och nyckelord. De viktigaste ingredienserna är: vår eller sommar, ledig från arbetet, öppet landskap, ljudet av vind, vatten och fåglar, blå himmel, hög luft, mina barn och/eller mina hundar.
Carefree is this week’s challenge from WordPress. I have spent some hours thinking about – when do I really have that feeling? And, what pictures might best show it?
To imagine this feeling I had to think about some essential ingredients. My conclusion is that they are: spring or summer, vacation, open air landscape, the sound of wind, water and birds, blue sky, crisp air, my children and/or my dogs.
There is one place on Earth, that more than any other place makes my heart soar by merely thinking about it. One place where my feeling of freedom and being carefree never left me. New Zealand. This photo is from a lonely beach on the Coromandel peninsula. My son is walking barefoot in the sand, where his sister’s footprints still are visible. I was walking right behind them feeling the warm wind in my hair and the soft sand under my feet. A crystal clear moment of sheer happiness. Far away from all troubles, but together with my loved ones.
This photo is from a day on the southeast shores of Skåne in spring 2008. Mille running wild and free in the waves and not a single other human being on the beach. Totti wasn’t born yet. Being a water dog, Mille’s joy over the rolling waves was unstoppable. I remember shouting at him when he jumped too far out and the waves seemed to swallow him. But freedom is a great thing…We both felt its presence that day.

WordPress utmaning Escape kan tolkas på många olika sätt. Snart tänker jag fly skolan för sommarlovet…Men skolan har många positiva saker man inte kan fly ifrån! Här kommer bilder från introduktionsdagar när nya ettor ska busas med och studieresor till intressanta platser i vårt land. Ingen kommer undan…Eftersom det är Naturvetenskapsprogrammet som är min hemvist, så ska ni se att inget slipper undan en naturvetares öga…
Weekly photo challenge: Escape
This calls for some positive things about my school! We travel a lot and try to give our students other views than just the class room. Every autumn we have some days of fun and games to get to know the new students. Biking ant sleeping in tents is almost a standard procedure. During the rest of the year we try to go by bus for some interesting spots, visit a university and learn other things than we get in the class room. The second year we go away for almost a week and the third year we go abroad. We have been to, among others, Budapest, Berlin, London and Madrid.
Maybe you want to escape these fun and games, but you cannot avoid them entirely. Here are some photos of introduction days and from some travels. Nothing escapes the scrutinizing eye of a science student…And, as you can see, it’s sometimes the teachers who escape for a while…
Den långa och kalla vintern och våren sitter bergfast i minnet, så när utmaningen handlar om stränder – då är denna i Halmstad mitt val!
This winter seemed never to leave us up here north. When LetsBeWild chose the Beach for a challenge – this was my first choice.
De flesta människor älskar förmodligen stränder, och kanske mest för sol och bad. Själv föredrar jag den ensliga stranden med plats för ensamhet och tankar. Plats för naturens skönhet och vågornas brus och någon mås som skränande svävar därovan. Och doften av hav förstås. Mitt galleri handlar nog mest om det.
Ailsa at Where’s my backpack? has chosen a very much loved theme for this week – beaches. Most of us love beaches, but I’m not a great fan if this means a lot of people. I prefer the sunny, lonely beaches with only the murmuring of the great waves rolling in and the gulls soaring, chattering white against the blue sky. Alone with my thoughts.
These are the most longed for Swedish spring flowers, and finally they are all here. The ones I do not know the names of I would be happy to get from you!
