Thursday’s Special: Traces of the Past Y4-03

For Paula at Lost in Translation.

This is the Roman bridge in Verzasca valley, Switzerland. In fact, my favorite bridge – in a very special and surprising landscape. A real treasure of the past.

WPC: I’d Rather Be…

Krista’s challenge…where/what would I rather be/doing…is quite easily answered, but then again – maybe not. It is not easy to pick some special activities among so many interesting things I like to do.

In the header is one of the last pictures of my Dream Garden, that used to belong to an old couple I have known for many years. Last summer their garden was sold, and those who bought it, immediately changed it for ever. I’d rather be with my old friends in their fantastic garden – but I know this dream belongs to the past.

Generally I am rather happy as I am…but here are some more suggestions:

I might rather be…walking the streets of Rome, enjoying its history while passing old and abandoned buildings.

I’d rather be attending interesting exhibitions…

And I’d rather be hiking new and exciting landscapes…

But, most of all, I’d rather be walking my everyday paths in the forest, with Totti. Hopefully, in some weeks, finding the forest floor exploding with white wood anemonies. Oh, the joy!

Thursday’s Special: Wintry

Paula, at Lost in Translation, asks us for Wintry… at least in our photos this week. As I posted my best ones this winter yesterday, I return to Iceland for some Real ”wintries.”

CFFC: Letter Z

Letter Z – In the header haze, Mount Ruapehu, New Zealand.

Somewhere in Switzerland

Then, my little boy, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzleeping on the – table…

Monday Dreaming

This gloomy Monday I went back to one of my favorite hiking spots –

– in pictures only…because this year has not allowed any hiking there due to the extremeweather with heavy rains.

But, as soon as the weather allows it – I will return, and enjoy the serenity here.

The stillness and solitude is tangible-

Going North

In a week or two from now, I will go up north to visit my daughter. Last year we went in February as well, and visited the Sapmi market, Kiruna and the ice hotel too.

This time we will only visit Umeå, where Emma is studying. Umeå is called ”The city of birch trees” and is a very lovely city even when the birches are covered in snow. Looking forward to going there again! Umeå is a city of culture and has hosted many spectacular events. This February we hope to see the famous snow sculptures.

WPC: Tour Guide

Tour Guide – What do I love about where I live? Well – The beautiful nature and countryside! Including:

My garden and flowers

The animals I meet every day

The old fairy tale villas

Even our ugliest old building looks beautiful in the low sun…

And I love our Castles, Hovdala and Wanås, always hosting spectacular art and exhibitions. Here josting and below Wanås with ants (from a South American artist) crawling over the faςade. They also have great areas for hiking and outdoor activities.

I do love this area, and I guess I would not want to live permanently anywhere else.

CFFC: Letter Y

Why this cake?

Because my daughter loves baking smashing things just for fun!

Thursday Thoughts – Travel theme: Adventure

Ailsa, you once invited me to participate in your Travel theme – and I have, almost every week, for several years. Your theme will be greatly missed, but I hope we will keep You!

My interpretation became a long one…almost every picture will have an explanation as to why they represent Adventure. Not that I think the explanation is needed – but still.

Thank you for all these years of hosting! Life is the greatest Adventure.

CFFC: Letter X

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Letter X – X needs to be anywhere in the word or shaped like the letter X

For Cee’s challenge this week – I go for shape. A mountain meadow in Switzerland – flowers and steep hills. There is need for an X- fence.
