Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Preoccupied

Preoccupied...no one beats Mille when he finds some water AND snow! Being an old water dog from Romagna, he has not forgotten his origin…He’s ”fishing” with his paws and dips his beard and mouth into the water to catch bubbles – or whatever he sees in there.  This weekend we finally got some snow and both dogs and the whole family celebrated outdoors with long walks and great joy!

Happy Anniversary to Leya!

anniversary-1x

Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com!

Today I got this celebration badge sent to me because it is exactly 3 years since I registered on WordPress.com. I didn’t know it was today, but I knew it was about 3 years…

Three interesting, adventurous, exciting years that have brought me new, valuable knowledge and many friends all over the world! (There are things good with the Internet…) So much I have learned from you, so much fun and so many useful things! Hopefully we will have many more discussions, reflections, likes (and dislikes…) to share. And, bits and pieces of our lives will fit together in this great Big Puzzle. Intriguing!

To celebrate this – my way – I have created another blog, because…well, I will put the link under my photo blog faialflores,( created last year, right column) but for now…you can find my New blog Here. What it’s about? Be my guest, click and find out!

The green winter light

As there is no snow this winter in southern Sweden – but rain there is – mosses seem to grow more than ever in the damp environment. Shining green, they light up all the grey and the darkness. So more than ever we have a green winter this year.

According to Wikipedia, mosses are a botanical division of small, soft plants that are typically 1–10 cm (0.4–4 in) tall, though some species are much larger, like Dawsonia, the tallest moss in the world (found in NZ for example) which can grow to 50 cm in height. They commonly grow close together in clumps or mats in damp or shady locations. They do not have flowers or seeds, and their simple leavescover the thin wiry stems. At certain times mosses produce spore capsules which may appear as beak-like capsules borne aloft on thin stalks.

There are approximately 12,000 species of moss classified in the Bryophyta, a division that formerly included not only mosses, but also liverworts and hornworts. These other two groups of bryophytes are now placed in their own divisions.

They climb the trunks and some trees are totally covered.

Tiny brown spore capsules on their thin stalks.

Every stone is more or less covered in a soft coat of green.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Joy

Last summer was – I think the most lovely summer I have ever experienced in Sweden. Warm, dry, sunny – soft water and light nights without stars. We stayed several weekends in late autumn in our summer house. which never happens ordinary summers. This September day I was walking the dogs, heading towards the small fishing village nearby. On the bridge I met this smiling, happy couple, standing there, admiring the beauty of nature, before going to the church. They were filled with joy that day, and in that moment. I just had to ask for a photo – and of course they said yes (!) with all that light shining from within! So proud of each other and so much in love…

Thank you All, and for Us being here Together!

In Sara‘s blog I found this discription of blogging, taken from her blogger friend Dorann(http://countryliving4beginners.wordpress.com): “I have learned over time that there is a lot more to blogging than blogging.  By itself, the exercise is rewarding – that is, if you are a true loner.  Otherwise, when you begin to reach out to the blog-us-fear, you are bound to become part of a team of players.  And suddenly you find yourself not only blogging, but reading, liking, and commenting, and finally, becoming part of a team who are all enjoying constructive interaction to help you to achieve your goals.  That is what makes blogging so rewarding!”

I also want to say Thank You, from my heart, to all those who follow or read my blog, for your constant support, likes and comments are the reason I’m still here blogging!  Every week I learn new things about the world from you, everything from recipes to new words to social life to politics. I am honoured to receive awards – but my real reward is your attention and appreciation. Sometimes my own time to be supportive is far too short – but thank you for being  patient with me – know that I’m always coming back to enjoy your stories and photos !

I will not follow any rules with the awards, instead I will link to a few of the more than 200 blogs I follow and the 200 more I also read and enjoy. An impossible task – so remember you are all in my heart!

Thank you, always considerate, wise and kind Ajaytao, for A Christmas Bouquet Awards ( some of which I hadn’t heard before, but they sound beautiful)

Thank you, Italian (but writing in English and Swedish) wonderful and versatile Sara, for The Reader Appreciation Award

Thank you, globetrotter and excellent chef Viveka, for The Liebster Award

Thank you, sweet and gifted artist, Mary, for The Wonderful Team member Readership Award

The Urge To Wander – Home

Inför julen 2013 022

Thank You, and I wish you All a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Happy

If you are lucky to have children or animals – or both – you know that few things make you happier than watching them having fun together. These photos were taken autumn 2012, just after Mille’s recovery from his long and severe illness. He had gained a kilo or two and I think this is the first time he responded to Totti’s invitings to play. His old spirit was back! As you can see his fur is thin and dry and the curls are almost gone. But this moment was so precious to me – I was truly happy (and so were those two friends) – they had fun together again. Today Mille is totally recovered, with curls and all!

Varför vinner Pilfinken? – Eurasian Tree Sparrows – why are they the winners?

In my garden the House Sparrows are more or less gone – instead the Eurasian Tree Sparrow is increasing in numbers. These are both common birds in Europe, but I would like to see some research on why the House Sparrow is disappearing more and more up here in the Northern countries. If you travel south in Europe, they are still numerous. Strangely enough it is the House Sparrow that wants to live close to humans, so they are the ones who (with simple logic) should have been the winners.
