I verkligheten är det några minusgrader och blåser en snål vind. Magnolian har lång väg kvar, där hon står och sneglar mot sista snöklicken… Det blir till att åka till blomsteraffären för en doft av vår!
In reality it is a couple of degrees below zero and the magnolia is glancing sadly at the last snow – she has a long way to go… The flower shop will have to satisfy my need for spring!

Love need this .. because we had snow this afternoon. My grandmother had a fantastic magnolia tree – stunning flowers and in Boston in the spring the street are edged magnolia trees, in the areas of Boston Common, the park with the thousands squirrels and swan boats to take out on the lake … so beautiful, probably the strongest memory I have of Boston. Happy Easter to you and your boys, two legged and four legged.

Oops…sorry for the typo! Fortunately for flower shops we can have some blooms even if spring has a way to go! Are Swedish traditions similar to Finnish ones?
I don’t know about Finnish ones, but I would guess they are much the same? We eat much salmon, lamb, turkey and eggs. I usually make pies and turkey and some tasty salads. When the children were small (oh, I think in fact we continued until they were 17-18…) we painted eggs. We take in birch twigs and put feathers in them. I also hang hand painted Chinese eggs in them.
This Friday, today, we call ”Långfredag” (what would that be in Finnish?) I remember when I was young we were not allowed out dancing or having fun. This day was only for remembering the suffering on the cross. Today there is nothing of that kind left in Sweden – except in churh of course. How is this in Finland?
It is traditional to have lamb here as well. It has long been the tradition here that on Good Friday (Pitkäperjantai which is a direct translation to your Långfredag meaning long Friday) that everyone stays home. But likewise I do not think that tradition is upheld very much today. On Palm Sunday children dress up as little witches and bring decorated pussy willows to neighbors. The chocolate and painted eggs are traditional here too.
