Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Soft Pastels

It was a great surprise and a great pleasure to visit Gdansk in Poland this weekend. The city centre has been totally renovated and built up from the ruins of WWII. A fantasy of soft pastels. Just in time for Cee’s challenge!

      • Ordinary stone in natural colours, yes. But our houses are more often in yellow or red brick, or whitewashed. Wooden houses are red or yellow mostly.

      • I think so. The beauty of wooden houses make them more wanted again, nowadays, since new methods of keeping them freshly painted are introduced. There was of course a time when cities like Stockholm and others were burned down in great fires, and after that, stone was the only option…

      • It’s so hard for we new-worlders to grasp that concept of centuries of tradition …
It’s what took Stringer and I to Europe every time – but, alas !, never to Scandinavia. You can’t do everything …

      • No…not everything, but we can travel here, via Internet. I would have loved Australia too – but I don’t think that will come true. If I ever get there, I’d love to have a drink with you. I think that might just be a good reason to go!
