Yellow is a very strong and happy colour, life giving and stands for intellect. In some countries in the West, it’s representing cowardice, but in Old China it was the Emperor’s colour, the most beautiful and prestigious colour of all.
According to Wikipedia, the word ”yellow” comes from the Old English geolu, geolwe (oblique case), meaning ”yellow, yellowish”, from the Indo-European base, gʰel-, as the word yell; gʰel- means both bright and gleaming, and to cry out.
Wearing yellow though, is not easily done for everybody – but looks stunning on people with dark or tanned skin, and preferably, dark hair. Lucky you who can shine in this beautiful colour!
To me, yellow means sun, spring and autumn. And, of course, the yellow houses in Denmark! For more of Yellow, click here.

You have made my favorite color even more beautiful.
WOW! One of your best blogs ever! I knew I should save it until now and I am certainly glad I did ! The Forrest is amazing!
I’m glad you loved it – and yellow is a colour for you, isn’t it?
Not to wear but to bask in , absolutely !!!

Happy Holidays!
All very beautiful, but that featured shot bathed in golden light is spectacular! I used to wear yellow when I was younger. I am wary of the colour now, except in accents 🙂
I’m sure you look as dazzling as ever in yellow – a lovely colour.
I love the first photo!
Thank you, Nathalie!
The sunlight in your first photo is a magnificent depiction of the golden hour and the final image of the beauty of autumn is stunning.
Thank you so much! My own favourite is the first one. The stillness in the air and the empty road – a lovely evening.
Your take on yellow is beautiful and enlightening, filled with your gentle wisdom 🙂
Seonaid, your wonderful way with words…thank you! I wish you many happy days during these festivities – and all my love to your family as well.

Thank you!
Beautiful yellow photos, Leya. Can’t pick a favourite. All of them radiate warmth. That is a bit of a spectacular sun in the first photo. And wow, that field of yellow flowers – I hope you didn’t need to wear sunglasses to look at them 😀
If I’d had sunglasses I surely would have put them on! The first photo is my favourite – the evening was pure magic.
Also: I really liked the linguistic history. Interesting how words come about.
Mmm, wish I had taken more of linguistics at university…my daughter did though.
That’s a gorgeous selection of yellow pictures! Didn’t know anything about Danish, yellow buildings. I’ve never really been to Denmark (!!!). Only Kastrup..
Ha, ha, well – this is from Köge, a very picturesque little village.
beautiful yellows! 🙂
😀
A nice read and lovely photos. Love the last one the best!
Thank you! Autumn pictures are lovely – when the colours are here. This year we had no colours…only rain and grey drizzle.
Bellissima serie di foto, complimenti, sono stupende!!
Ciao, Patrizia
Grazie, Patrizia!
what a glorious yellow series! The last one, Wow!!!
Thank you, Amy!
Beautiful collection for the challenge, Ann-christine. I thought of Yellow houses (in Denmark too and in New Zealand), for this week. I think the first and last photos are by far the best. And the second last, so reminds me of driving through rural Denmark in summer 2004!! Ah!! I will savour that for a while now. Thanks for prompting a sweet memory.
The Banksia is so interesting! And your gallery is lovely – I love the houses.
What a fantastic collection of yellows. I love the old building. I didn’t know about the Emporer’s colour being yellow.
Denmark is full of those lovely old houses – 18th century many of them! Biking in Denmark is perfect, if you haven’t tried it? It’s all flat, not good if you prefer terrain of course…
Sounds like a destination to add to the list
