Ailsa’s theme this week gives you another chance to reflect on who you really are. What is the very essence of you? Not easily done in only one picture…so I had to choose two.
The loner, hiking in nature – but I am also the photographer and the lover of my job and my students. The results are one picture from a hike at Svartisen, Norway, and the other taken by a student at the final dinner for my class, leaving school, heading out in Life.
Why not take the chance to figure out the very essence of You? Click here for more inspiration.

As a photographer it is interesting to look at how others see ourselves. These photos are excellent because they show the natural you, as opposed to the staged look for a photograph. Especially the first, seems to be natural, in keeping with the natural surroundings!! Enjoyed your post, Ann-C.
We only get two pictures?
Hehe, we all have many sides, don’t we…but I have only got two pictures…Luckily about my two most prominent sides…
Love seeing the two sides of you Ann-Christine – really beautiful and telling. Wonderful!

So well balanced Ann Christine 😉 I agree with de WW . Lovely photos !
Poppy, there are not many photos taken of me…as you know we are almost always behind the camera. So I’m very grateful for these.
Lovely both photos. Strange when you get a photo of yourself because you are always behind the camera.
True, strange it is. I did not know he was taking this photo of me because my entire focus was on two other students. This one he sent to me some weeks later – I’m very grateful for it. This student is still a very good friend of mine and we meet up at least once a year. He makes scones and tea and we chat about old things and his new life. I love these moments.
Wonderful to have a student like this. When I had my international student she also took some photos of me which I kind of treasure very much.
We have many lovely youngsters to think back on, don’t we. A wonderful job, being a teacher. But sometimes too tough.
Tough indeed at times but very rewarding. We always hear about the few extra difficult ones while the good ones are usually overseen. I remember the good ones more than the others
So do I. The worst things are connected to the paper work and all the reporting on computers too.
Yes, even that isn’t that bad. I usually loved to see how my students did during the year in other classes too.
Agree, but nowadays we have several National Tests every year, in Swedish and in English, and all of them must be reported to at least two different bureaus of statistics. About ten posts for every part of the test for every student…and I have about 100 students to report. That makes it 4×100 =400×10=4000 entries…
Wow that’s a lot if you take it like that. In SA we had year 7, 9 and 12 writing the different National tests. Don’t know how it works in NZ because I’m not in teaching anymore.
Here it’s only getting worse, so I’m happy to have left the system for now.
We all have so many facets and they are hard to capture in one image. So nice to see different sides of you. 🙂
Thank you, Marie. I guess these two show the best parts of me – you don’t want to show the other sides…do you…
Plain to see that you are equally at home in both scenarios, Ann Christine!
A wonderful comment – thank you so much! I guess I was happy in both moments – maybe that’s why!
I really enjoyed both of these.
janet
