      • Had to be one or the other….neither have done well in our woodland this year, the green has come as normal, but the flowers have been just the odd one. Too dry I think 🙂

      • In fact the same here. Much of the green but fewer flowers. My Anemone Hepatica tseemed totally gone in the garden, but I finally found two at the far end of the hedge. Last summer was devastating. We had one of our birches die too – they are rather water craving.

      • Even after last weeks heavy rain the ground here is parched…. those summer drought cracks are over the meadows. Strange though, some growth is very prolific whilst others stunted (and I am not comparing plants that like arid conditions with our traditional plants). The Oak trees have been in leaf for 5 weeks or more now, Chestnut and Sycamore followed, but the Ash buds firmly refuse to burst.

      • Interesting – and it is strange here too. After some days of summerlike temperatures it turned colder again, and now everything is standing still, waiting. Lily of the valley will have a massive flowering this year it seems.
