Last week Amy challenged us to share images of the countryside and/or a small town. This week Tina is hosting, and she is ”…asking you to look a bit farther afield. Each of us at some point has visited a place that holds special memories. It may have been a small town, a big city, or even better, an entire country. We’d like you to capture the spirit of a place that is vivid in your memory. What was it that drew you in and why did it capture YOUR heart?”
I guess many of you already know where my heart lies – Iceland. I have been returning to this country again and again, for more than 30 years now. There is no end to the fascination. This is my attempt to find out Why.
There is so much more of Iceland to love – horses, waterfalls, lava landscapes, hot springs… and beautiful Reykjavik with Hallgrímskirkja of course.
Hopefully you are all inspired by now – Patti, Tina, Amy and I are looking forward to seeing your special places!
I will get there one day …you have captured the magic of this place 👏
I am glad to have inspired you!
I’ve not been but would love to go.
You would not regret it!
Wow. Beautiful photos of a beautiful place.
Happy to share them with you, John!

Beautiful pictures, Ann-Christine. You have certainly picked a most delightful place to revisit.
Glad you enjoyed it, Sue!

Magiskt.
Ja – magiskt är ordet för detta land!
Wow I can see why Iceland is your heartland country. Your photos really capture the spirit of the place.
Now you made me smile, Suzanne! Thank you – then I am happy to have transmitted some of my feelings.
You definitely did 🙂
I loved the cloud formations you captured in the first photo. I see why this place calls for you to return.
Then I am happy to have conveyed the message!
stunning photos! thank you for bringing to us the beauty of Iceland! 🙂
Glad you accompanied me, Lola!
A-C, I knew you would pick Iceland … pure magic 24/7!!!! So is your images … love the flora and the night images.
Thank you, Viveka – yes, I guess I am rather predictable there… Glad you liked the darker images too, I find them intriguing.
Certainly a place to make one appreciate the magnitude of nature’s beauty.
It is – so glad to share my impressions!
I have enjoyed your photos of Iceland! Such a vast space with stunning landscape!
Thank you, Amy – glad to share some of the glorious vastness!
I loved your photos. I don’t need inspiration to go to Iceland, only time. But your photos are really lovely. That last evening photo, with the sun breaking through clouds and lighting up a patch of grass, is a sight to treasure.
So much to see, so little time – yes. Thank you! And the light, the light is a precious treasure .
Now I have to go to Iceland, Ann-Christine! The light is amazing and so is the natural beauty. We just spend a few hours in the airport there last year. It’s time to explore this country. Your shots highlight the beauty of this place! Gorgeous!
So glad to convey some of the glory of this country! Hard to match the light here.
It looks amazing.
I can’t get enough of your posts…these are all amazing!
😀 So happy to share with you!
Iceland is lovely! I have been one time – good to know you are an expert traveler there! I want to rent a car and drive the ring next time 😉
You will not regret it! But don’t even think of doing it too fast…there are wonders all the way!
What do you think would be the best length of time to do it?
2 weeks maybe? It depends on what more you are planning to do. Akureyri is wonderful, and we went by boat to see the whales (15 of them came up to the boat!) You have to venture out in the ice lagoon, hike the volcano area and maybe take a trip with a 4 wheeler out in the Vatnajökull area…Well – it takes some planning!
ok, 2 weeks it is! need to add it to the list. very cool about the whales.
Good luck!
Your love of place comes shining through in your images Ann-Christine. If I never get there I will at least have done so through you my friend! BTW, have you seen the photographs of the Icelandic wild horses done by Drew Doggett? They are amazing. https://drewdoggett.com/collection/in-the-realm-of-legends/
I am glad it shines through, Tina – although I am always afraid I am tiring people with so many images from this country! Amazing photos of the horses! Thank you so much for the tips – I will follow!
Beautiful images Ann-Christine, I love the wildness in the landscape 💜 If we ever went there we probably wouldn’t want to leave 😉💖 xxx
Probably not!
And you too visit the places again and again, why would you waste your money? 😀
Hope you read my post! If so, you know I am just kidding!
btw Great landscapes!
Thank you, Raj! I always appreciate your post, thoughts and comments – and this time is no exception.
A wonderful place that I will probably never get to see except with you Ann-Christine Thanks for taking me along 🙂

Thank you – it is impossible not to have great captures here!
So nice having you!
