Frost has taken most of my autumn flowers, and bees and butterflies are almost gone. Every now and then, there is still a glimpse of sun – and a glimpse of life.

When is the latest in the season that you’ve ever seen a bee?
November, the first part. And you?
I’m not sure, but I suspect I’ve seen some in December, given how much warmer we are than you are. In addition to Eurasian honeybees, we also have many kinds of native bees, most of them solitary rather than colony-forming.
A lovely photo but the onset of Winter is simply part of the inevitable cycle of life and Nature.
It is – but always a kind of sadness around it.
Last weeks cold front (hit 11 below 0 F just a few miles south of me) left the tree leaves that hadn’t started changing colors green – but each day that passed – the green leaves were more brittle/dried/preserved in place and are in process of blowing off as the warm sun and gentle breezes here and there shine/blow across them – a little different, here, from my memories of how this time of year often plays out… :).
