The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.
– Albert Einstein
John asks us to look for signs or billboards, they are everywhere. And, if you don’t capture images of physical signs, consider any photographs of metaphorical signs. Thank you, I will try a mix!
Let’s start with the season – not many colours yet, but enough to know autumn is coming..

Then some signs of power: a wall in Split, showing the old city map, and who built the city.

Another sign of power – a jaguar sitting on a Jaguar.

A gallery of different signs from our travels would be a good idea, but I haven’t got that many. Here are some signs I remember well though…

Signs from Madeira, China, Italy, Sweden, England, Scotland, New Zealand, Iceland, Alaska and Canada. Wondering about the toilet? It’s in The Elephant House in Edinburgh – the birthplace of the Harry Potter novels. (Not the toilets…) J. K. Rowling first wrote about him from a table in this café. The signs are from fans all over the world…And here is one of her own:
Hearing voices no one else can hear isn’t a good sign, even in the wizarding world.
– J. K. Rowling
I cannot leave you without two favourites from Tblisi, Georgia, a city with a warm heart for its stray cats and dogs. The dog house has got a feeding automat where you can put in some money and there will fall down dog food for the strays to munch.

We are looking forward to seeing your challenge response this week. Be sure to tag your post with Lens-Artists so we can find you in the reader, and link to John’s original post.
Many thanks to Amy for hosting last week’s challenge, “Contrasts”, and thanks to you for creative and interesting posts! Next week, it’s Sofia’s turn. If you want to join in the challenge, but aren’t sure how to get started, check here.
You are welcome, AC
Wow, wonderful collection, AC, for this challenge.
I love the bear sign and the decoration of public toilets.
I love the chick waiting patiently at the road crossing!
Thank you for sharing these funny clicks.
Thank you for reading and having fun!
You are welcome, AC
Thanks Ann-Christine I saw the sign on the car Jaguar and the sign of bear. I love all of your images. Anita
Thank you, Anita!
Great choices all, but I did really like the Tblisi, Georgia ones.
Thank you, Ritva. I loved that country and its inhabitants.
So many creative finds, AC, and I loved that you made sure to include signs of autumn/ nature. Interesting about J.K. Rowling and how she found inspiration to write in a cafe. Mors interesting that signs to her were in the bathroom. I especially loved the tree where notions happened.
Thank you, Donna! I am glad to have found at least some signs, and happy they were enough for a post. And I think John said it so well – we need more of those historic moments…where nothing happened.♥
Yes. True!!!

What a great eclectic collection, A-C! I love the signs of autumn and I liked those last two as well…but really all of them. 😉
Thank you, Janet! A struggle, but finally a post.
I understand that.
A great collection of signs, Ann-Christine! The Georgia signs for stray dogs and cats tug at my heart 🙂
Don’t they? A not very rich country, but they loved their animals. All dogs where vaccinated too – even the strays.
Wow, that’s dedication … to vaccinate even the strays. Also, they apparently realize the public health value of vaccinating the strays. Wonderful!
Yes, they will benefit from it, the whole society will. They even did check-ups around the year and took out those that were too ill.
What a wonderful fun post for this week. 😀 😀
You are very kind, Cee – it was a struggle…
Lovely collection, Ann-Christine, I loved your sign from Madeira. It’s funny how your Autumn colours haven’t started yet, here, they are almost gone 😦
Thank you, Sofia – I really had to struggle with this one…but finally there was a post. ;-D And the colours usually don’t arrive until frost does. We haven’t had much of that yet!
Great selections. Love the autumn woods, and we need more Historic Site days like that one. As for the autographed toilette, TMI! 🙂 🙂
Ha, true, more of that! But now you have to explain to ignorant me – what is TMI?
Too Much Information!!! 😱😂
😁
Great Choices! That smiley face is giving me ideas for our front lawn!
Haha, well, what would your family say?
Excellent choices Leya.My favourite were nature signs, it´s really hard to miss it.
Thank you – we have very few colours here so far, but it’s a start!
What a large collection of fantastic signs! The most promising are the ones which signal the beginning of autumn, but some of the manmade signs are as good. I like that one about cats, and, of course, the jaguar.
Oh, thank you, you are very kind! I struggled a bit with this one as signs not ordinarily are on my photography list .
Love the Jaguar.
♥ A beauty.
I like your take on this challenge. Some great signs here!
I am glad you liked them, thank you! I struggled some…signs are not my speciality…
Terrific choices for the week Ann-Christine. Loved the little chicken not crossing the road 😊and the bear sign would make me choose a different destination for the day! Also loved the bathroom and the historic site sign on the tree. That one cracked me up
Thank you, Tina – I love that sign on the tree, still smile every time. We walked the trail with the bear sign, 10 persons at a time, and a ranger with a rifle. But I felt a bit uneasy…
Great collection! We were a bit sad, the only time we went to Canada, that the nearest we got to a bear was a Bear Aware notice! Probably just as well…
Well……..they cancelled our tour for the bear watching, but luckily we saw a blackbear from the train in the mountains! So shocked that I wasn’t ready with the right camera settings. But I have a black blob in the landscape, and I KNOW it is a bear!
And that’s all you need to rekindle the memories.
♥
Well done…a fascinating, diverse collection of different types of sign, A C!
♥
And thre you were, telling me you had no signs!
Well…I had to really go through my files to find any!
😄👍
Great signs Ann-Christine! My favorite is the sign in the road urging people to look again before they cross. And, that’s one great bear shot.
Thank you, Anne, I like that one too. In NZ they had a good sense of humour and their cars had the most fantastic names.
Our trees here in the north country have already shown their fall colors and have departed the trees for the most part. My favorite is the smiley face on the hill! Great collection, A-C. I remember seeing the sign at Butchart Gardens… in fact, I have a similar photo of it.
Great signs Ann-Christine, especially the historic site marker where nothing happened 😂.
Love it!
A great idea using Autumn colours, a good collection of signs too 🙂
A bit of struggling, but in the end – a post!
👍😀
