Travel Theme: Freedom

Freedom…a magical word. To those who live in countries with dictators, to those who live under dictators at home, to those who are chained to their jobs, to those who…

The word freedom I think belongs to those words that never will be worn out. Partly because there are so many ways of enterpreting its inner meaning.

When I think of freedom, in my life, I would say it means freedom of thought and freedom to live some days without any ”musts”. Those days are so precious…and without doubt, they are often connected to being alone, hiking and travelling. Travelling in a mindblowing book or travelling over geographic land and sea.

I will try to picture my Freedom, and I’m grateful to Ailsa at Where’s My Backpack, for being allowed and able to. I looked through pictures I thought would give me that feeling, and my final choices were these:

Lastly, hard to admit it, but…

Travel Theme: Colourful

Ailsa´s travel theme is Colourful, and this is exactly what we need at this time of the year – thank you! Here we go!

Travel Theme: Autumn

Autumn is here, and most of the colours are gone. Bright flowers still during daytime but at night, in lamplight, the trees are still golden.

More autumn is to be found at Ailsa’s!

Autumn Dew

I’s raining. Not much sun these days, so when it doesn’t rain – we go out. Totti is not much of a man for wet weather…open the door, he sticks his pretty little nose out, turns around and snuggles up in his bed. ”I can wait…”

Whe we do go out, the air is dewy soft and trees and grasses are all in pearls. In the forest, there is a dim light between the trees.

In the open, there are many different spiders and many different webs – depending on where they live and what they want to catch.

Maybe the wheel spiders are the ones we love the best – or at least those are the ones we firs recognize.

Everywhere on everything growing, you will find them. Pearls, necklaces, ethereal. When the sun shines through, they are almost lost to the eye…

…especially in the grass on the ground. But now – they are visible, beautifully intricate. And many!

From a different angle we can see how thickly woven and how close (3-4 cm ) to the ground. It must be quite impossible for a moth or a fly to get detangled from this…

On our way back, the sun finally came out and the misty dew lifted – no more spider’s web to be seen! Instead the few autumn colours shone – the spindle-tree being one of my favourites.

And back home again – my last garden flowers this year. Glorious in the sun.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Vibrant Colors

For Cee’s challenge this week – Vibrant Colors – I picked Gran Canaria apartements and two little friends a dewy summer morning. Why not participate yourself?

Weekly Travel Theme: Inviting

Few things feel as inviting to me as this old veranda, these delicate flowers and the two open doors…And this place is no more. Maybe that is why.

Få ställen känner jag som så inbjudande som denna veranda, den skira blomsterprakten och de öppna dörrarna. Och allt detta finns inte mer. Blommorna är borta och så är verandan. Kanske därför känns det så.

Uglies or Beauties?

A walk in a Blekinge forest with Totti – and I found quite some junk among the trees. Do I only see ugliness in these things…or maybe there is something more to them? I don’t like things being thrown out into nature like this, but this morning I decided to find some beauty in them instead. Just to not be the usual angry and disappointed one…And, it worked for me. Does it work for you as well?

Mushroom magic

My mother and I like to walk, and every year we visit Vedema, only some miles from where I live. This area is perfect  for hikers and others who want to enjoy the outdoors. Follow me and Totti on a day out with my mother, looking for this autumn’s lovely mushrooms! Indeed they are all wonders, and all different ones…

After a couple of hours – and a beautiful couple of gigantic red toadstools, we met a young lady called Bella – and Totti fell totally in love…For some 15 minutes we were all in the middle of ”The Fast and the Furious”.

Walking back again after some coffee and buns, we felt we’d had a refreshing day.

So…I’ve been playing around again…

As I’m having wonderful students this year – too – I’m rather busy with my big classes! I try to blog, and try to read as many blogs as I can as often as I can …Thursday evenings though, there are usually some hours free – and today I have been trying Fotosketcher again. A way to relax before the Big Day. There’s the Big Election coming up here in Sweden this Sunday, and as I’m responsible for the election held in my area, I will be very busy that day. Fun, but a lot of responsibility. I have been doing this since the 1980’s. This year I guess everyone expects there to be a totally new government on Monday morning.

Now to my pictures…which one turned out the best? Technically? Colours? Your preferences? The flower and the beach are from Blekinge, Sweden. The building is the Edinburgh Parliament and the cat – was watching me from a window at Greyfriar’s, Edinburgh.
