Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Water or the Season of Winter

Nothing in my photo stream fits this theme of Water and Winter better than Tännforsen in February this year!

Cee’s fun foto Challenge: Metal or the Season of Autumn

This week Cee is asking us for something metal or from the season of autumn – my choice is The Kelpies in Falkirk, Scotland.  Impressive metal sculptures that took my breath away this July.

The Kelpies, made by sculptor Andy Scott, stand 30 metres tall in the 350 hectares Helix recreational space in Falkirk. They are the world’s largest equine sculptures and towering over the Forth & Clyde Canal they form a gateway to the canal entrance. These sculptures are meant to pay tribute to central Scotland’s working horse heritage on the canals from years gone by. Read more about them in my post  here.

And, thank you Cee for featuring my entry on Harvest last week!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Earth or the Harvest Season

The harvest season is here, and for some farmers the harvest is already in. We’ve had very high temperatures for about two weeks now, so they have been busy.

Photo from late this afternoon – the scent was lovely and the sun still hot, which comes trough in the warm colours.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Wood or Season of Spring

I choose wood this time, for Cee. This very old cupboard of wooden lockers I found at the long bowling club in Galashiels, Scotland. I just adore it. Still very much in use!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Squares-Triangles-and-Angles

This challenge made me think about how many of these squares, triangles and angles we find in an ordinary house – in this case an old cottage, a ”Blekingestuga”. For more on this theme – click here.

In the tiny rooms of this particular cottage, everything from ceiling to floor seems to be made up of these angles…

Miss Jenny Samuelsson from Kuggeboda, Blekinge, gave this cottage to the museum – now to be visited by everyone coming to their garden.

From the outside you can see the tinyness of this cottage – a remembrance of how poor people used to live in the old days.

Turning my lens to the modern buildings just some 50 metres from this cottage – the houses still have these angles and squares …and colours. A brilliant merge of old and new architecture.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Straight Lines

Straight between Sweden and Denmark! Lines are important, and sometimes they just have to be straight…these ones are for Cee’s challenge – why don’t you join in?

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Crooked and Squiggly Lines

Cee’s imagination is neverending! Crooked and squiggly lines – here they come! Why don’t you join in too?

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Things with edges

Cee asks us for things with edges – these are pieces of edginess! The petroglyphs, or rock engravings, in Vitlycke are from 1000 – 500 BC. Ships, love and magic. We visited with the class in May.

People went to sea and they portrayed their grand ships. We went to sea as well, and at sea we found even more edgy creatures. Starfish and corals.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Floral Macros

Floral macros for Cee! It’s no secret that I love flowers…and there are more flowers here.

Cee´s Fun Foto Challenge: Water

Last week I was featured on Cee´s Photography – thank you so much, Cee – it’s an honour!

I have been away with my students for some days to Bohuslän, which is on the west coast of Sweden. Of course this means Water! One of the days we had the opportunity to go by boat with scientists from the University of Gothenburg to dig up animals and plants from the bottom of the sea for examination. And we had a magnificent evening by Gullmarsfjorden.
