Today I have finished my Painted Ladies jigsaw puzzle – loved it. Painted really, so faces and details were very difficult to do. Thought mother’s birthday orchid also looked a bouquet of painted ladies…
Thursday Thoughts – Friends
We had our yearly outing at Wanås castle, Viveka and I. Finally. This is something we look forward to every year – and even this ”lost” year, 2020, we made it happen.
Much of the art work and installations are the same, but each year there are new interesting artists and art on display. The forest linen and the mirror barn 2020.
These days the importance of friends is even more highlighted. What would our distanced lives be without them? And we can still visit exhibitions that are mostly outdoors.
Viveka (of Myguiltypleasures) is an inspirational and avid photographer, and her Oscar is always going warm when we are out. So, what is she photographing now?
Laetiporus sulphureus – or sulphur shelf. A very beautiful species of fungus growing on tree trunks and branches.
You can easily lose sight of Viveka as she often gets lost in her photography – but there is one unmistakable sign that helps me finding her again…her bag. Her striped bag. Whose bowels contain anything needed for a day out…including Oscar.

Thursday Thoughts – A Garden Walk in June
As many of us are into flowers this week, let’s go for a stroll in my garden!
The tiny bush roses, maybe 2 cm, are the ones I used to put in the Midsummer wreath.
The dark red peonies are almost hopeless to catch showing their true hue – here is one of my best tries.

Thursday Thoughts – A Pasque flower Walk in May
This spring is like no other spring – in so many ways. The nights are freezing cold, and many flowers and trees do not grow very much. They even say we might not have new potatoes for Midsummer (a Must…).
I nearly missed out on the Pasque flowers, and arrived just in time to see them in flower – and faded – at the same time.
The sandy meadows stretch widely in the sun, just by the sea. We seldom go to the sea, so this was a fun opportunity for the dogs. As Milo is only two years old, he still acts like it was the first time. Jumping and bathing like crazy.
Pasque flowers have a special charm. True beauties when in flower – and another kind of delicate beauty when faded. Few flowers are bestowed this gift.
Only about ten centimeters high, they crave a crawl to show their faces.
Leaving the sea and heading to the top of the hills. You can see the Pasque flowers’ home meadow down on your right.
The forest path down again, treats you to orchids as well as other plants and flowers striving in the chilly wind.
After a couple of hours’ sunny walk in the company of our dogs, Totti wanted me to stop photographing and just MOVE ON.
That thought in his little curly head, is nicely demonstrated like this…by not following my husband any more. He just had to let him stay put and wait for me. Any dog owners who recognize this…?
Thursday Thoughts – A Cherry Walk
One of the most beautiful places in Skåne, Sweden, is the Hills of Brösarp.
A small taste of them – and rural harmony –

Thursday Thoughts – A Spring Hike
A refreshing hike in our area – we had not visited for many years. In Sweden we are fortunate to use the outdoors even now – if we stay close to home and not travel far.
I think the images mostly speak for themselves – it was a glorious family day.
At the parking, there were no people except us.
Sunny – cloudy – taking turns all day.
Some wood anemones still surviving.

Looking back is always a good idea.
There are many lovely cottages in this area – thatched roofs are popular. My aunt once had a thatched roof that caught fire during a thunder storm – a frightening experience.

Back at our starting point again, we walked around the hostel houses – closed during corona times of course. But so charming and so Skåne, my part of Sweden.
Thursday Thoughts – Hiking, but not 2020
For so many years we have hiked this beautiful national park during April…
…but not this year. We used to go the whole family, and all our dogs have made it to the top of the mountain at least a dozen times each. We follow the water for about an hour,
then the track turns around the bend and for a while we walk the footbridges.
I searched my archives to find some memories from years gone by,
and here is something of the early spring loveliness as we struggle up the tough slopes.
On the plateau, old trees have come to rest, and younger ones softly lean over the precipice. We stop to admire before the long walk down to the pond where we started.
I miss this hike, but this is 2020, the year of corona and covid-19.
I will be back though – I promise…maybe next spring.
