SL-WEEK 48: Silhouette
For Sylvain Landry -silhouettes.
For Sylvain Landry -silhouettes.
This day, 14 year ago, a remarkable friendship started between me and one of my most beloved friends ever. Mille. He came to us on May 9 and will stay for ever in our memories even if he left us, May 9, two years ago.
These two pictures were among the first ones I posted on my blog. I am very grateful for all the happy memories.
I admire many people. People who struggle hard to get a decent life, people who save other people’s lives, people who have accomplished great things… But there is one man I admire perhaps the most of all. The Dalai Lama.
We all know his story, how he was taken from his parents at an early age – being the chosen one. How he had to flee his country from the invading Chinese, and how he has managed to survive and be the leader and role model for so many people in the world. His gentle wisdom, his smiling eyes, his message of peace and nonviolence is recognized worldwide.
The Dalai Lama has my deepest admiration .
In the header is a picture from Malmoe, when he visited in 2011. I had listened to him once before in Lund, but this time I also happened to be right at the entrance just when he left the building.

After the interesting and joyful interview, he walked out to the waiting car…
…saying his gentle goodbyes to all of us. For this time. In my heart, I hope to see him again. Some day. Somewhere.
I have been nominated by my friend Sue, at WordsVisual, to take part in a challenge of a photo per day for seven days, of anything from the natural world. And every day I should nominate a new member.
Today I would like to nominate my blogging friend Callum, studying at the University of Bangor in North Wales, Studentinsnowdonia, to take part in the 7-day Nature Photo Challenge. He takes the most beautiful series of photos on his hikes in Wales and I would love to see what he might come up with for this challenge….. It’s OK, I understand if you should be far too busy for this, Callum!

We are on the same beach as in the last post – not fast moving…but too fast for me. I tripped over the debris lying around here (As this is a Nature Reserve, nothing is to be moved) and went heavily down in the sand. Groan. Must have been fun for anyone looking…but I was alone. My right hand high up in the air, holding the camera – trying to save it from a sand burial.
All went well, but I just had to take a shot at the one who landed here before me…
Today I would like to nominate my blogging friend Pike at artkorppi to take part in the 7-day Nature Photo Challenge. She takes wonderful photos from the natural world and has a keen artistic eye, go to cityenkeli.wordpress.com to see her sketchbook as well. I would love to see what she might come up with for this challenge….. No problem if you are far too busy for this, Pike!!

My first photo is from the west coast of Sweden, a nature reserve, on a very cold and windy day.
Today I would like to nominate Noortje Russel at RusselsLof to take part in the 7-day Nature Photo Challenge. She takes the most wonderful photos from the natural world and has a keen artistic eye. We went to a seaside resort for a couple of days – relaxing on the west coast of Sweden.
I took some new photos. This: Thursday evening on the beach. Click here for more new.

I have spent a couple of days at a seaside resort on the west coast. We had some sunshine and a slightly chilly wind, and enjoyed the stay very much.
Last night and late evening, we walked the pier before dinner.
Many dogs were out walking their masters, but I especially noticed this man and his best friend. They had that special friendship that made them play so well together.
The way it should be between man and dog. Between best friends.
Just watch them together. The listening and total understanding – no loud voices…
…but talking all the time…
Cooperation – and perfect understanding
Who needs anything more?
Rain, sun, snow, storm, sun, rain, and snow again.
A couple of days ago we had all of this on the same day, and then – One Glorious Day. I will take you for a walk that day…if you want to!
There was heavy frost in the early morning – but the sun promised a lovely winter’s day.
Some miles from home, all frost was gone – the sun had been working hard.
Inside the forest though, in the shadows, it was still very cold. I had to put on my gloves for taking photos.
Do you remember the hair frost? This is even a whole hairbrush!
Lake Värsjön is a lake I have never visited before – and it turned out to be a little gem. Lovely paths to walk and the ice like a painting.
The sun was very strong and made it difficult to even look at the ice. No sunglasses…unfortunately. I did not know I would visit a lake!
And, I found a tiny beach – but the water is not hot here…like in Iceland. So, no bathing!
Instead I enjoyed the silence and the warmth of the sun, listening to the creaky sound of the ice breaking up.
Time to return home for breakfast – to make scones, celebrating the joy of having the rest of the morning for my son and myself.
