Thursday Thoughts – Once Every 20th Year

Christmas time is family time – and this Christmas of 2018 was a remarkable one.

The day before Christmas Eve we woke up to a completely white landscape. This might occur every 20th year or something. A white Christmas. I cannot remember when this happened last…but we were very grateful.

Two days of splendid winter wonderland. And walking with the whole family is not something granted every day.

When the sun revealed a blue sky –

Thursday Thoughts – A Double Farewell

These foggy mornings – forebodings of November grey – still have their own beauty.

My father just turned 85, and our daughter flew home for the celebration last weekend – despite having a big exam three days later. Love ♥

Driving her to the airport – she wanted a walk in our forest once more. So brother and sister walked ahead of us, chatting and laughing, but also talking about serious things.

Forests are good listeners. Up north, where she is heading, there are no autumn colours, only firs and pine trees.

So, when she left, this autumn’s last colours were mirrored in the little lake in the early morning light. I hope Emma will picture them in her mind during the long winter darkness in Umeå.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #11: Small is Beautiful

”Just living is not enough,” said the butterfly, ”one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.”

Hans Christian Anderson

For Amy and the Lens-Artists Challenge, I have chosen a series of small beauties from a trip to the Pyrenées in 2011.

A hidden valley that has kept its biodiversity almost intact –

– and is renowned for its variety of butterflies

A couple of days hiking this valley, and I felt harmony restored

Serenity

And …

… I even managed to capture a Hummingbird Hawk moth – what joy!

Thursday Thoughts – Quiet Moments

We did two walks last week, just Totti and me…

…and this is the second one – Both are old favorites – as I guess you recognize the paths…

In the middle of the week the forest rests in silence

And there are not many colours around

I guess that is the way we want it

Quiet

Thursday Thoughts – Quality Time

We have had some quality time, just Totti and me – and the camera.

Away from the energetic Milo and away from home

Heading for the forest in the early morning

A day of promise

A day of joy and happiness for the two of us

And the little things…

that really matters

Four Spring Favorites

In the header – my Magnolia. The other three found on my sunny walks this weekend.

Monday Dreaming

This gloomy Monday I went back to one of my favorite hiking spots –

– in pictures only…because this year has not allowed any hiking there due to the extremeweather with heavy rains.

But, as soon as the weather allows it – I will return, and enjoy the serenity here.

The stillness and solitude is tangible-
