Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Camouflage
Kamouflage är nog något vi alla önskat oss – åtminstone ibland. Att smälta in utan att bli sedd, hörd eller rörd…en dröm vid många tillfällen…För detta tema har jag valt gräsfjärilar och blåvingar från Pyrenéerna. Att smälta in för dem kan naturligtvis vara livsviktigt.
Who wouldn’t want to be disguised, melting in without being seen? I think all of us want to do that, at least sometimes. For many animals this ability is essential – to survive at all.
The online magazine LetsBeWild has Camouflage as a theme this week. I have chosen three butterfly pictures from the Pyrenées. Whether they are in the grass or on leaves or on the ground – they are neatly camouflaged all of them.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting
WordPress wants us to think about fleeting, this time. Fleeting is also something that can be applied to our whole existence on planet Earth.

Så stiger han åt sidan till sist, Ingvar Kamprad, IKEAs grundare. Hans liv och verk är en fantastisk saga, vilken nu ska leva vidare i sonens regi.
Visst har det blåst hårda vindar kring honom ibland, Kamprad, inte minst när det gäller nazistsympatier i ungdomen, men han har alltid stått pall. Säkert står han kvar som rådgivare åt sonen, men det ska bli intressant att se om någonting förändras i konceptet. Knappast så länge Ingvar Kamprad själv lever – men framöver kanske?
Att vara humla – Being a bumblebee
Det finns ca 250 arter av humlor i världen. En vanlig myt om humlor är att de enligt fysiska lagar inte borde kunna flyga, och att det är en gåta att de flyger ändå. I verkligheten karakteriseras humlans flykt av en oscillerande vinge, som mer påminner om ett helikopterblad, än en flygplansvinge. Utöver det skapar humlevingens form och rörelsemönster en luftvirvel precis ovanför vingen och den gör också att humlan får ökad lyftkraft.
Idag har jag tillbringat säkert en halvtimme med att titta på en mängd humlor som flitigt jobbade och samlade pollen i azaleor och rhododendron hos en arbetskamrat. Snabba är de, så de få foton som humlorna verkligen fastnade på är med i detta lilla galleri. I regel visade bilden bara en blomma och möjligen några humleben redan i luften när jag klickat…
There are over 250 known species of bumblebees, existing primarily in the Northern hemisphere, but they can also be found in South America. Bumblebees have been introduced to New Zealand and the Australian state of Tasmania.
According to 20th century folklore, the laws of aerodynamics prove that the bumblebee should be incapable of flight, as it does not have the capacity (in terms of wing size or beats per second) to achieve flight with the degree of wing loading necessary. It seems their wings work more like a helicopter. They also start a swirl in the air above the bee which makes it easier for the animal to take off.
So, they do fly…and they are fast! I spent maybe half an hour today at a friend’s house, trying to catch more than his beautiful azaleas …but, mostly I got just the flower and som bumblebee legs lifting when my camera had finished clicking…

Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background
Anvisningarna för den här veckan var lite svårbegripliga…åtminstone om man, som jag, varit mestadels förlagd till sängen hela veckan och inte hunnit komma i form. Kort sagt skulle man fotografera någon eller något som skulle varit i förgrunden men hamnat i bakgrunden – eller tvärtom…?
For this challenge – In the Background – I had to read the instructions at least twice. And I’m still not sure if I got it right?
Anyway. This is a photo of me (some buildings, a globe (?) and a street lamp) taking a photo of the street lamp shown in the picture. I was not supposed to be in the picture, but I somehow got a lot more than I asked for. I think it came out rather understandable anyway, but what the main thing is here – I’m not sure about. What I’m sure about, is, that this is Beijing.
Så har man fyllt 5 år! 5 years today – a grown man!
Så har man fyllt fem och bör väl vara vuxen! Dagens överraskning blev inte riktigt vad jag hoppats på … men, jag visade med all önskvärd tydlighet hur en vuxen man tålmodigt väntar på att få gå ut! Bad – blev det först! En annan har ju en förmåga att rulla sig i förbjudna saker…
Tårtan får ni inte se, för den försvann i ett enda slurp.
So, today I have turned 5 – a grown man! My mistress said I had to take a bath – calling me ”Stinky” and all… (Oh, she loves me anyway, I know…) …I have a certain talent for rolling in the wrong things… I had to wait quite long before going out, because of all my pretty curls – they had to get rather dry first. Then my master took me, because my mistress has caught a dreadful cold. I hope to show you the patience of a grown man here.
The cake though, you will not see…it disappeared within seconds so no photo was taken. Tasty though. And Only for ME!
Bad? Nej…tyckte jag. Bath? No…not if I can decide….

Weekly Travel Challenge: The Four Elements
De fyra elementen har jag valt från de nordiska länderna – Island, Norge och Sverige.
Ailsa on Where’s My Backpack? has a thrilling theme this week – again! The four elements, Earth, Air, Water and Fire. I have chosen pictures from the Nordic countries – Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Earth – old magma flow on Iceland.
Water – Iceland of course!
Fire – Sweden, April 30.
Air – in the mountains of Norway.
Weekly Travel theme: Dance
Dansen var mitt liv när jag var ung. Några gånger dansade jag med en professionell dansare – underbart. Idag dansar jag aldrig. Kanske på någon fest ibland, men annars inte.
Konstigt nog har jag nästan inga bilder alls på dans eller dansare. Däremot njuter jag av att titta på dans och balett, och filmer som Billy Elliot gör mig lyrisk.
Mitt bidrag får bli några bilder från Kina. Ett land där man dansar i parker och på öppna platser och gärna undervisar främlingar som vill försöka. Först ett vackert, äldre par och så dottern med en undervisande dansare.
Ailsa’s travel challenge is all about dancing. Dancing was my life when I was young. I also got the opportunity to dance with a professional dancer for a time. Nowadays I never go dancing. Maybe if a big party is going out, otherwise not. I love to watch dancing and dancers, though. Movies like Billy Elliot has me enchanted.
My dancing pictures are very few, so my contribution here is photos from our trips to China. A country where music seeps out from every park and dancers are everywhere. They are happy to show you how to do and give you big smiles when you succeed. First a beautiful, elderly couple, and then my daughter who also was taught by one of the dancers.
De äldre var mycket aktiva i alla parker. Inte minst med morgongymnastiken. Alla verkade mycket ”unga”, viga och mjuka i kroppen – vilket man naturligtvis blir om man håller igång med dans och gymnastik.
The elderly people were very active in the parks. I don’t know if we were fooled by them being so agile – but they seemed so young in body and soul.
Den här mannen spelade tennis med en boll fastsatt i ett snöre. Jag minns att jag hade något liknande när jag var barn. Han var en mästare på att få bollen att dansa – och tog flera danssteg själv när han träffade den med racketen. Allt, naturligtvis, till musik!
This man had his ball dancing and danced himself when smashing it. Of course to music!
Det eleganta paret i första bilden får avgöra elegansen på den sista. Bilden är tagen från en musik och dansshow på ett hotell i Peking.

Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Movement
Onlinemagasinet LetsbeWild utmanar oss den här gången att visa någonting i rörelse. Hos oss finns det ingen som är i mer rörelse än Mille och Totti. Ofta kör de vänliga boxningsmatcher i en rymlig ringhörna eller också försöker de stoppa varandra för mera bus. Famför allt busar Tottis bedårande lilla dotter, Belezza. Hon är så kvick att det är stört omöjligt att fånga henne på foto…
