Ola Salo from The Ark is one of my absolute favourite Swedish artists. Some years ago I learned that he was going to do Jesus in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. I just had to see it. Ola Salo is very talented. He’s got a good voice and his father is a priest. Now this makes it even better – the son of a priest acting the son of God! Who could do this better – potentially? Salo is also a phenomenon on stage (a glam rocker with his band The Ark) and not to speak of his good looks – he is a Jesus look alike.
Unfortunately the tickets were impossible to get – sold out in a couple of minutes only. Every show. But – last weekend I saw Jesus Christ Superstar in Karlskrona. Starring Ola Salo! The group had decided to do one more tour with the show (5-6 years after the first and only one…). I got tickets, I GOT TICKETS. Maybe I sound like a teenager now, but this was something I really had been waiting for. The musical first came to Copenhagen when I was 12 something, and then I was too young to be interested…I guess I have been waiting about forty years (40) just to see Ola Salo as Jesus!

Congratulations, it’s a fantastic show – but I’m not familiar with either of the singers – been away too long from Sweden.
I sae in Gothenburg in 1972 – with Peter Winsnes and Agenta Fältskog as Magdalena, I was left deaf for days after … the music was far too loud and we were too close to the massive speakers too.
Sorry about the sound! I know that Agneta and Bruno Wintzell acted in Copenhagen. Peter Winsnes I have never heard of?

Han passar perfekt för rollen och jag tycker det ger ett annat djup när man vet att han har ett speciellt förhållande till tron och Jesus och att han funderat mycket över det. En intelligent kille.

Damn you, Ann-Christine ! I NEVER saw that wonderful musical. I would give my back teeth to be able to see it … the music is just marvellous: never been anything else like it. I thought your Swedish production looks absolutely mind-blowing, and Ola is indeed a match. As well, a genuinely nice interviewee. (Can’t I find ANYTHING negative ? – nup…) 😀
He, he – I bet you’ll get the chance some day! It’s a brilliant musical – quite a mind blower when it came. Now it’s just great. The music is – as you say – marvellous! And I still have a crush on Ola – never mind my age…

This is so cute. A few years ago, Poncho and I got to see Jesus Christ Superstar with Ted Neely. He’s the American counterpart to your Ola Salo. It was phenomenal! So you just go ahead and embrace that teenager in you!
