Thursday Thoughts – Being Grateful

Thursday again. The days and weeks and years rush by – and I am still here. I am very grateful for that.  Today is Thanksgiving in the US – and we have much to be thankful and grateful for, even if we do not celebrate this special day in Sweden.

I am grateful for so many wonders in the world.

Being able to walk in the forest, in Nature, which means so much to me.

Being able to see and enjoy our world. From the great panoramas down to spiders’ webs.

I can feel, I can write, I can speak…I can even take pictures of the wonders that surround us…just to keep them with me a little bit longer.

And I can share some of them with great blogging friends, readers and followers – I am so grateful to all of you!

I still have my family, loving parents, and many of my best friends from my childhood…

…even if I know the path is narrowing.

So, Thank you for letting me be born in a free country, with loving parents and good friends. Surrounded by deep forests and open meadows.

I will try my best to be an open-minded,  loving and caring person – always.

  1. Such lovely thoughts Leya and accompanied by beautiful photos. When we see what other parts of the world are suffering through we do have so much to be grateful for.

  2. What a lovely post about being greatful, Leya. Beautiful, quiet neck of the woods. People is the best when you got them. Appreciate them every step of the way no matter how long or how short 😊💙

  3. I love, love, love the photos of the snow. I think that no matter where you live, taking time to be thankful is essential and to do so every day changes your attitude. Happy Thursday, A-C.

  4. ”Thank you for letting me be born in a free country…” Just the other day I remarked to the people I was with that even now, after all of human history, so many people around the world don’t live in free countries. Those of us who do should indeed be thankful and should safeguard our freedom, which can too easily slip away.

    • Wisely said. But safeguarding our freedom is, like you hint at, a difficult task. Power and money rule the souls of many of us, and thus our freedom might slip away with not much of warning. A free press is essential for a country – for example. But I believe the Internet is as great a danger as it is a useful tool.
I do not know who said this, but the essence of it was that history is the greatest prophet for the future – we never learn, do we…

      • To answer your question: in a letter on January 28, 1821, Byron wrote: ”The best prophet of the future is the past.”

I love the Internet for the easy access it gives us to so much information. Unfortunately, some of what appears on the Internet is unintentionally or intentionally wrong. I often see things incorrectly quoted, and sometimes attributed to writers who didn’t write those things. I wish people took time to verify the things they find on a website before blindly copying them and passing them along to others.

      • Thank you for enlightening me! As a teacher I know this is a constant problem with the students. How to reach them in this copying and passing on without checking up first. In fact we have to devote several hours in every subject to stress the danger in this.
