When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. – Marcus Aurelius
My mornings these days – are not quite the same as before the pandemic. Maybe yours are the same as before – or a bit different too? Anyway, a look at your morning – or Any morning – is the challenge for this week. Maybe there is a special morning that you will never forget – you could share it with us!
When the virus hit my world, in order to sleep better, I had to move upstairs to my daughter’s old room. So the first thing I see when I open my eyes to a new day – are fluttering butterflies. Feels good! And I do sleep better up here. I find harmony and peace.
This room is where many of my potted plants spend their winter season, waiting to come out in the sun and the fresh air again. What better place is there for me to spend the night?
Here I also grow new plants for the next season – these little ones are tomatoes in the making. I guess I love seeing plants, animals and people, grow –
In the hallway I pass the standing mirror, and a glance into it before closing the door, reveals Emma’s sewing machine waiting in stand by with her summer hat on top.
Before I go downstairs, I sit for a while with my new colourful plant puzzle – very relaxing and Mindfulness My way.
On coming down into the living room, I am usually met by a yawning Milo and a snoring Totti…(So…hardly ”met” really…), Totti is extremely good at snoring, so I hear exactly where he is. My husband tells me the dogs miss me terribly, but they have now accepted my strange night habits. Please click to enlarge if you love them –
Finally – coffee (Emma’s mug…). And the morning paper is a must. After a rather solid breakfast, I spend the rest of the morning out in the forest, enjoying the Wood Anemones while they are still flowering. Now on their last due to the dry weather and strong winds.
Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world
(My favorite song from younger days, when Cat Stevens still was – Cat Stevens.)
We are looking forward to saying Good Morning to all of you! Be it your morning, any morning or some creative twist.
A big thank you to our guest-host John Steiner of Journeys with Johnbo for ”Going Back the Second Time Around”, which brought many lovely memories from you – and tips for new memories to be made!

Hello Ann-Christine- this is a beautiful post. ❤
As usual, I'm a bit behind the parade when is comes to posting on my blog and commenting on others. An advantage is seeing a bigger picture. This one is quite soothing. Thank you for sharing one of your mornings.

Delightful! Your daughters room is quite lovely … and those plants. Beautiful room for a new day! Love those pooches …
Glad you enjoyed them, Julie! Just wish she would come home for a visit soon…
this is my first time here and loving the website. But to my great surprise i see the words to Morning Has Broken which is one of my all time favorites and sung at my young daughters funeral. I lost her when she was just 10. so to see it here touched my heart and made this now my favorite place to go to online. ….. thank you so much 🙂
I am so sorry for your terrible loss, and hope you found comfort and joy in this post. Thank you for visiting, stay safe and well.
Lovely perspective of the butterflies image! Thank you for the challenge and i’m gonna share the post about one special morning, when we woke up with 1 meter of snow one morning. For South of France it was a rare sight 🙂 https://yurirasin.com/2018/03/06/the-last-song-of-winter/
Thank you, Yuri – and that must have been something special in the South of France!
Oh yes, I must say it wasn’t fun for some people but I surely enjoyed it!

Sounds like your mornings are nice. Oh yes, and one does remember the days when Cat Stevens was just a singer, and the mornings that one saw were by going to sleep too late in the evenings.

As always, a beautiful post Ann-Christine. I loved your choice for this week’s challenge although my personality in the mornings is not something you’d want to see!! Your mornings sound peaceful and beautiful, filled with most of your favorite things. I am happy you find solace in being surrounded by your daughter’s things even if she cannot be with you in person. Happy Sunday to you and thanks for the moment of joy.
Tina, thank you – and I am really no morning person either. But I love mornings! My medicine now is exactly what you noticed – being surrounded by my favorites. And taking it slow. Pace is a key word. I hope you have found your way too, and that the golf courses soon will open!
Stunning … beautiful … magical … clam!!!!!

It would not seem right if you didn’t acknowledge your feelings in words and photos, Ann-Christine. I’m enchanted by the butterfly mobile. I love your choice of theme about how we greet the new morning, which in your case is with all the lovely things that give you comfort – your dogs, your plants your daughter’s things. I’m not such a morning person, but I will have a look in my photos to see what I have that fits.
If possible we have to do what we can to feel OK during this tough period. Your observations are accurate and I am grateful. Also the possibility of a slow start – is essential to me. I imagine you find some good moments with your dogs as well. ♥♥♥
❤
My dogs are not actually very restful, Ann-Christine. They are extra noisy at the moment alerting us to the increased foot and dog traffic past house as more people are home during the day and walking their dogs. 🙂

what a beautiful world you are in, Ann-Christine. thank you for sharing. i love your words, your photographs, the quote and yes, Cat Steven’s song – is a favorite song with morning prayers. here is my contribution: https://lolawi.blog/2020/04/19/morning/
Glad you enjoyed it, Lola. And that tune is a beauty.
You’ve a wonderful haven for staying in, Ann-Christine. The little vignette with your daughters hat in front of the window is such a comforting view. And how wonderful to wake up to butterflies. Stay well and sleep well. 🙂
A lovely comment, Steve. Thank you, and stay well you too.
I love the butterflies!! And I do like the idea of sleeping amongst the plants and seedlings.
They do help me feel good – and it is a joy every morning to look at them. Tomatoes, especially, grow very fast, so every day something has happened!
They do. We planted tomato seeds for my son when he was very small so he could see where food comes from and not get bored having to wait for growth to happen 😀
Such a good idea! So did we, and they still do it, both of them. To my joy!
The hardest thing about this ‘crisis’ is being apart from our loved ones, Ann Christine. I can feel the yearning. I feel it too. And I often sing that song to myself. Stay well, lovely lady 🙂 🙂
Thank you – I agree. And that song I sing to myself quite often too – it is a beautiful tune. Stay well milady!
Thanks sweetheart. Doing my best 🤗💕

Your morning is cheerful, Ann-Christine. My daughter’s room used to have glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling. We removed them when painting the house some years ago. I have mostly outdoor pants because our house faces north and south and doesn’t have too much sunlight. I’ll be back with my post!
Miriam – those stars we had as well, but when they became teenagers, they re-painted their rooms and the stars disappeared. Instead Emma made and painted those butterflies. Looking forward to your Morning post!
Now my daughter is doing projects with her daughter!! ❤
