Oh, he’s a contemporary artist that does things with space and light. For example, he’ll have a big rectangular hole in a wall or ceiling, and then the light coming in will appear like a luminous shape, rather than like looking through a window. The barn has some of that same effect where the rectangular cut out makes the ends of the logs into a sort of formal painting, etc. It becomes a very formal, aesthetic, modern, abstract composition. Even the grass in front is a part of it.
When we had a wood-burning stove, this would have filled me with longing. Since it’s going to be close to 100F today, I’ll enjoy the photo without the need for needing additional heat. 🙂
