If you think about it, everything is a work in progress, isn’t it? So, this should be a challenge open to endless possibilities – I can’t wait to see what YOU think when you hear this phrase. Here are some things I came to think of – hopefully they will help refreshing your thinking cap…
Everybody’s a work in progress. I’m a work in progress. I mean, I’ve never arrived. I’m still learning all the time. – Renée Fleming
A work in progress…often we think we know the outcome – and other times we really have no idea. But, that is part of the fun. Planning, longing, guessing, following the project. I know though, that the work in progress in the opener/header, is one of my homegrown cucumbers.

No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying. – Tony Robbins,
The artist here is sculpting with a chainsaw and other, smaller electric tools.

The secret of making progress is to get started. – Mark Twain
Ladies making Churchkhela candy in the streets of Tblisi, Georgia. Smashingly tasty, I promise!

Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection. – Mark Twain
– Or?
The construction site in Barcelona as it looked in 2011. This famous project started in 1882, but Antoni Gaudí died in a tram accident before he could finish Sagrada Família. It is said to stand finished in 2026 – a rather long work in progress. We plan to visit then, or when…

Then I must add some examples of budding life – fascinating works in progress.

Failure is success in progress. – Albert Einstein
A new puppy means working on – becoming a sociable dog and hopefully a lifelong companion.

Progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be. – C.S. Lewis
A newlywed couple with their young daughter. Maybe one of the longest and most important works in progress we can embark upon – growing a harmonious family.
– Gaudi knew…
So, now it is your turn! A work in progress can be almost anything…can’t it? Looking forward to seeing your ideas and images! Don’t forget to link to this post and use the Lens-Artists tag.
Finally, sincerely thanks to Janet and her creative theme Overlooked – which it indeed wasn’t (overlooked) ! And thank you to all our fantastic guest hosts this July – we hope you enjoyed it just as much as we and the readers did! Now we are back to the ordinary hosting, and next week it is Amy’s turn to lead us. Until then, stay calm and be kind – also to yourself.
Oh, and one last, wise quote for all of us to remember:
Allow yourself to be proud of yourself and all the progress you’ve made. Especially the progress that no one else can see.– Anonymous

Hi AC. I just saw that I didn’t link to your post last week or comment. Oh dear. My sincere apologies. Well, here I am to say that your photos are, as always, just lovely and cover a wide range of situations/people/emotions. Your theme was inspiring and intriguing. People responded in so many different ways, which is always a very good thing. Have a good week. Give your little granddaughter a kiss for me!
Thank you, Patti. I too have made that mistake thinking I had done it – but hadn’t. Glad you are here!
Yikes! We’re both doing it from time to time! So funny. Take care and have a good week.
You too, Patti. Fires and floods everywhere, here we have flooded cities in half of the country.
Oh dear. Mother Nature’s message couldn’t be any clearer. We were dealing with smoke from wildfires last week. This week it’s clear. Crazy.
Yes, nothing could be clearer. If people have eyes and all senses open.
Agreed.

I guess you can relate as I see your works of art as well, A-C.
I truly can relate, and you are my role model!
Haha you are funny 😄
Ha, but you are – I often look at your sketches and admire your technique.
Thanks for that… still practicing on different techniques to see where I am heading.

I’m unable to decide which is more artistic in the first photo!
The horse sculpture made out of a tree trunk or the artist’s judgement posture 😀

Wonderful images of works in progress, Anne-Christine! Cool shot of the artist working on the sculpture…I admire people who can create art in 3 dimensions. Sad about the length of time that cathedral in Barcelona is taking to be finished. Love the puppy and the inference to them being WIP–I agree!! Here is mine this week: https://secondwindleisure.com/2023/08/09/wordlesswednesday-home-construction-zone/
Thank you, Terri! I agree about three dimentional works – art works. And I hope to revisit Barcelona and see the finished cathedral!

I enjoyed reading your thoughts and the photos that go along with them. Each action shot has unique features that represent a work in progress well. I love the budding flower macro, those dog eyes are adorable, and the family photo – is so sweet. Well done! Thanks for the excellent challenge. Here’s my take on the prompt – thank you kindly for hosting the challenge. I hope you have a wonderful week! https://www.quaintrevival.com/a-lazy-hazy-reminder-why-1156-days-is-worth-the-wait/
Thank you, Shelley, so happy you liked the theme!
You’re welcome!! 🥰
Another unique challenge from you!
Love the artist admiring his half finished work, fantastic job of creating horse head!
Love the puppy. Cute!
Love the Sagrada Família, almost getting finished.
Fab examples for this theme.
Thank you, AC.
So glad you enjoyed them, Philo! I am planning to go back and see the finished cathedral – when it is…finished.
And post the image once it is done.

Leya, I love your WIPs. I love the lady stirring with her purse on, LOL! The horse in progress is certainly eye, catching. And that puppy! I could eat him up; he looks so sweet, as does the young married couple. My WIP is coming on Wednesday. Not surprisingly, my kitchen. 🙂
Ah, thank you so much, Maesha! And looking forward to seeing your kitchen!
I hope people aren’t too tired of it! 🙂
They are not!
Thanks, Leya! 🙂
I loved the challenge and your carefully selected photos for inspiration. Everything is a work in progress. the chainsaw artist has impressive talent. I imagine it was fun to see the sculpture come to life. And progress or not, I loved the expressions of the ladies making Churchkhela. ”a little of this and a little of that”. Success. I dint know that history of Sagrada Famalia. We will be there in the autumn. I will look forward to seeing the changes from your 2011 photo.
My favorite quite was the Tony Robbins. So true… just keep going. Enjoy your week. Thank you for such an inspirational post.
Thank you , Donna , for always inspirational comments! I am looking forward to seeing your photos from La Sagrada Familia too. And stay safe on your trip!
Thank you. Enjoying every minute

I like the way cathedrals are always work in progress, whether it is Sagrada Familia or Notre Dame de Paris, or the eternal cleaning of the Dom in Cologne. Churchkhela was new to me. I like that photo and the previous one too.
It’s such an open topic! Here’s my take on it: https://anotherglobaleater.wordpress.com/2023/08/07/the-marvelous-day-when-nothing-happened/
Thank you, those ladies were candy pros. I must agree about cathedrals too – they really are works in progress. Many times we have arrived and scaffoldings and plastic are making it impossible to have a decent photo.
Absolutely loved the challenge this week Ann-Christine. The images are wonderful examples. Especially loved the young family and the puppy – and the closing quote which I plan to print and hang!! I’m traveling this week but couldn’t miss responding. My post is https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/2023/08/05/lens-artists-challenge-261-work-in-progress/
Thank you, Tina! And yes, that quote is worth printing. Happy travels!
Such lovely examples A-C. Your photo of the Sagrada Família is wonderful, it is not easy to capture that building. I must confess that seeing Work In Progress reminds me of my working life when so often projects were very much a WIP.
Thank you, and yes, I had to find a position where it was possible to catch most of the building. Impossible to get the whole thing. WIP, always.
Wonderful photos every one.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for reminding us to pay attention to ”work in progress”, AC. Love your photo examples. The image of the Sagrada Família is magnificent, in progress, indeed!
Thank you, Amy! Yes, we need to realize we always have a lot to learn.

I love the photo of women making candy on the streets of Tblisi 🙂

La Sagrada is a long-term work in progress, isn’t it, Ann-Christine! I love the portrait of the puppy, but the couple with the child is a precious example of multiple works in progress.
Thank you, John. And Milo is still a charmer…A family takes alot of work, and so does a little baby. In fact pets and babies take most of our time…

A great subject which allows such a varied response. You’ve given a number of great examples too. I like the way the woman stirring the pot still has her handbag. Ad the pose of the sculptor examining the status of his work in progress. All your photographs are superb. Thanks for setting up this challenge.
Thank you for a lovely comment! Yes, I loved those little ladies holding tight to their handbags, and the sculpturs were fun to watch – but I could not stand more than some minutes because of the noisy machines!
Marvellous theme for this week, A C! Some brilliant images to illustrate and you heave given me some ideas

I think you’ve a nice range of photos here. They’re all appealing in their own ways, showing work as a snapshot in time.
As a side note the building looks like some sort of construction made from biscuit. Not sure why.
Here’s mine for this one:
Thank you! I can see what you mean with biscuit – Gaudi took all impressions from nature, that is why the facade looks rough and uneven.

Just have to smile at the big bellied sculptor judging his workmanship so fine and dainty 😉 ! As for me – either one is a work in progress, or one has crossed the river into the next world . . .
Scrolling again methinks just have to kiss the baby who righteously said ‘Well, glad you two finally signed on the bottom line . . . s!!!
♥♥♥
You are so right – in both!
So many lovely responses here Ann-Christine. My favorites are the little baby and the Sagrada Familia.
Thank you, Anne, so glad you enjoyed it!
A wonderful theme for a challenge Ann-Christine and you have provided some excellent examples. Cheeky dog, the flower bud and I love the Sagrada. Have seen it twice and would love to see the building without scaffolding 🙂
Thank you, Brian! Maybe we will meet up there when it is completed!

Ann-Christine, thanks for offering this wonderful challenge topic. I went ahead with the idea of Nature’s work in progress when it comes to storms. Here’s my entry:

Thank you, Egídio, Nature’s work sounds great!-
I love all these but especially the cathedral and the baby ❤
Thank you, Dawn! I hope both will turn out well and in the best way!
Great examples of works in progress Ann Christine. We are all works in progress. Each day we learn something new. Your challenge is for us to describe it in pictures. Let’s see what I can come up with??
Thank you! I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Anne. Exciting all the time!

I’m not sure I ever met a complete person… unless that’s you, Ann-Christine 🤣🩷 We’re all still trying to get there. Have an excellent week!
Well, Jo, I guess I am about the less complete person I know – always trying to grow and better myself! Don’t know about the progress though…You must indeed send my happiest wishes for your son and his wife – is it to be in Spain or England?
In Leeds, where he lives and thank you 🤗💙🩷
