Thursday Thoughts – Van Gogh Alive

If you haven’t seen this exhibition, I do recommend you to go! I guess it has been shown in a great many countries by now – and finally here in Malmoe too.

Vincent Van Gogh has always fascinated me, his paintings as well as his grim fate. This digital exhibition is a wonder in both pictures and music. We stayed for hours, walking, sitting, being totally soaked up in his world. I also liked very much the concept of people getting portrayed as silhouettes against his works. An inspirational evening indeed.

If you happen to have this exhibition in your city, please go and see it – being immersed in beautiful images to enchanting music – what more can you ask for?

  1. I’m thankful to have seen it in San Francisco during the pandemic. The silver lining is that I had plenty of space and it was my date and I enjoying a break away from home, making it all the more special.

  2. Thank you for your recommendation Leya, I hope that a replica of this Van Gogh collection can arrive in Lima-Peru. At the moment, I’m enjoying it virtually on Google.

  3. I know of two competing exhibits like this … and I saw both with one being much better than the other. But the lesser had better ”additional” exhibits. In southern France there is a large cave projecting images on the walls as one walks around. Now that was unbelievable! (but I didn’t see the Van Gogh show there.)

  5. I loved the one that came to Oregon! Apparently, there are a few different productions with slightly different music and slide sequences, but the experience is totally engaging and transcendant!

  6. One hundred and twenty kilometres sometimes can be a ‘long’ distance. The exhibit has been in Sydney twice methinks towards the end of the official Covid era . . .without yours truly having had the chance . . . Am not certain but besides being rather expensive methinks one was limited to 45 minutes in time? Looking at your photos I am sorry not to have had the experience . . . thank you . . .

    • Dear Eha, 45 minutes? We had a time slot of 2 hours…and it was needed. Hope you enjoyed the post anyway! Next week there will be a second part. Keep well – is it hot over there now?

      • Loved the post . . . shall look out next week . ..oh, the timing goes alongside the expected revenue I would say 🙂 ! This is an island continent of many climes . . . the fourth cyclone of the season about to break the country up north . . . here thunderstorms and outages are nearly daily but almost cool . . . nought much over 31-34 C . . .

      • Oh! Too warm for me …but I guess when one lives there – one get used to it. Do you believe there have been more cyclones and rains and droughts the latest years? Our climate has changed a lot, more rains and more droughts and more wind.
