For the first time we were there – and we went four different carnival days. All thanks to Viveka of Myguiltypleasures, who is a true ambassador of this carnival. If you want to see more from Nice – please visit her fantastic blog.

Enjoy a gallery from the Opening Parade, with the theme: Roi de la Pop Culture. Starting and ending with some great stars!

More to come next week…
Dear Ann-Christine
What a crowd like at the Cologne carnival. It looked a bit like the carnival in Rio.
Thanks and have a happy weekend
The Fab Four of Cley
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you, you too. This was a treat indeed. Skilled artists in both performance, clothes and make-up. A bit like Rio, as you wrote.
♥♥♥♥
Wow ! What a nice and colorful Carnaval parade.
Yes, we really enjoyed the days in Nice. Colourful and happy. Very skilled artists in both performance, clothing and make-up.
Wow! I never heard of this carnival in Nice but it looks amazing – brilliant floats and all so colourful!
It really was. And three carnivals in town! Night carnival and flowers as well. Much needed fine weather!
Oh, for some fun sunny summer days. Still seems a long way off.
They do – here it seems winter is back again. Those days in Nice were highly treasured!
Sometime this winter, it has seemed hard to believe we enjoyed warm sunny days, sometimes so hot you headed for the shade.
What fantastic late winter fun! Roll on next week’s post!
We need it…don’t we. Here it seems winter is back again, so a week in 15-17 C and sun was a great break!
Did you also visit the Lemon Festival in Menton?
Yes, we did! The theme this year was the Olympic Games.
I know, I have friends who live there and always photograph the displays
What an exciting parade, Ann-Christine! Thank you for sharing these photos. How’s Vivi?
She is ok, Amy, thank you for asking. She still loves a good party!
That’s wonderful to know. We followed each other for a long time years ago.
Sad that she stopped blogging.
I know. She is good and has so many photos to share.
True
Wow. Who knew. I love the last shot. I wonder how they managed to move.
Thank you, well, their feet were free, but bumping into things and people must have been unavoidable!
A colorful parade … and cheers to you for being lucky enough to be there. Love the way many Euro Canavals love to spoof. Great pics, A-C.
Thank you, Frank. Many similarities to Rio I have heard. Skilled seamstresses and make-up artists. Nothing left to uncertainty.
I love the costumes and colors! Beautiful captures.
A wonderful colourful post Ann-Christine, looked like so much fun 😁
Thank you, Brian – not often I go to a carnival, so this was for several years on…It was fun and very beautiful. Their clothes and make up are made like theatre clothes and by skillfull make-up artists.
I was about to ask, did you go with Vivi? What a treat! I’ve seen a couple of items on Facebook and it wasn’t clear if she was alone, but I know it rained some of the time. (here in the Algarve too) Good to know she can still get out and enjoy.
Jo, we should have met up properly, but she booked a week later, so we got only a couple of hours together! But that was great, we could thank her from our hearts that she had advised us so well on where to sit for the best photo ops. Unfortunately she got all the rain while we got all the sun.
🤗🩷
Thank you so much for the colourful photos of the recent Carnival in Nice – terrific! Have been to the Riviera a number of times but never to catch this! Am happy to hear you touched base with Vivi but cannot understand your advice > I have not seen her post for more than 18 months and could not find one just now? *smile* What am I doing wrong ?
Eha, she does not blog anymore, but from Nice she posted every year since long. Carnival photos excellent. So, you are doing nothing wrong!
Oh A-C, I am just mad at myself that the days rush by and I have not got around to re-establish even a little correspondence with a gal I very much admire!!! . . . hugs to you . . .
Eha, she is not well at all, and now she is in hospital again. I believe she would love to hear from you !
