Egidio is leading a challenge made for real music lovers this week – and I have chosen two of the most loved songs in my book, Morning Has Broken and What a Wonderful World. Be sure to visit his beautiful site for more inspiration. And, if you are participating, please link to the original post and add the Lens-Artist tag.
Morning Has Broken – is a Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune, ”Bunessan”. Cat Stevens made it popular all over the world. This song I consider to be one of the most beautiful ones ever written. My children know I want it for my funeral. In Cat Steven’s interpretation.

What a Wonderful World – was written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released in 1967 as a single. In April 1968, it topped the pop chart in the United Kingdom, but in the United States the president of ABC Records disliked the song and refused to promote it.
After it was heard in the film Good Morning, Vietnam, it rose to number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Armstrong’s recording was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
Louis Armstrong – I always hear his grainy, harsh voice whenever I feel overwhelmed by nature, grand landscapes and its beauty, silence and serenity. His voice is the perfect choice for every moment…

It is a wonderful world in every detail…

big or small…

from the tiniest dew drop …

to the abundance in flowers…

colours…

and animals. And everything and everyone new to the world is soft…

fragrant…

and wonderfully fresh.
My Swedish favourites I had to leave out…but I have some there too of course. Songs from our own language are special, and like all other lyrical texts, cannot be translated properly with their original feeling. In the Scandinavian countries you often find a melancholical touch with music written in a minor key. Music for magical summer nights and autumn colours.
Last week we had Ritva making us post abstract photos – and it was really an eye-opener on how many abstracts we really make! Thank you for a great challenge!
Next week it is Tina’s turn to host, be sure to visit her magical site for more inspiration. Until then – stay calm and be kind.
Those soft, lovely landscape shots are my favorites!
Thank you! I love them too – lovely mornings up early…

need say no more than it is a wonderful world and you have captured it as such wonderful way
Thank you, Ritva!
What a Wonderful World was a choral arrangement that my daughter sang while she was on tour in Europe with a children’s choir…and I was a chaperone. That became our Mother/Daughter dance tune at her wedding, after her father had died. It will always hold a very special place in my heart. ❤
❤️💛❤️
I never knew that about What a Wonderful World. Thanks to everyone but the US for making it beloved song of all time. 😀
❤️ Some facts I did not know about, blogging is learning!
Lovely images, Ann-Christine! I also used Morning Has Broken for this challenge. I liked your misty landscape photos and the blooming purple pasque flower. Beautiful.
Thank you so much! I will try to check in on most post when I am back home again!
Beautiful from start to finish, Ann-Christine! Morning has broken is one I often find myself singing and your images are lovely. I listen to a lot of Portuguese music these days, and often don’t understand the lyrics, but I can still enjoy the mood. Happy travels, darlin! Envious again.
Thanks, Jo, hope you are doing well!
Fine thanks, darlin! We’re in Ronda 🤗🩵
I saw you on fb! Lovely place!
😁🩵
I fell in love with your first three images. ”What a Wonderful World” is an amazing way to begin the new day as the sun begins to rise above the horizon.
Thank you, Brenda! And yes, it is!
Lovely. That’s music for all weathers
Thank you – yes!
Fully agree with „what a wonderful world“. I‘ve chosen the similar one by Sam Cook as a bonus song.
And I have to admit, I forgot „Morning has broken“. Well done, Ann-Christine 👍👍👍👍👍
💛💚❤️Thank you!
You‘re welcome 😊
Beautiful images Ann-Christine and the Cat Stevens version of Morning Has Broken is one of my favourite songs too 💚🎶
Great to hear! Thank you💛
Your chosen songs fit your photographic style so well! That last tulip image is a stunner, but my favourites apart from that are all in your morning gallery – they all have that special light that comes with the early part of the day 🙂 And I learned something new – I never knew that Eleanor Farjeon was inspired by Alfriston when she wrote that poem!
Thank you, Sarah, and I did not know either – blogging is learning!
I’m not familiar with the hymn but your morning images are fantastic. Your images of our Wonderful World are beautiful.
Thank you so much, Beth, I think you would love the hy.n if you can find it on youtube!
You are right. I love it. I watched the video by Orla Fallon. It is beautiful.
I am glad you got the chance to watch it! Thank you for telling me, Beth.
Your entire post reads and feels like a song, AC. I, too am easily stopped by both songs. The images are contemplative as I imagine you might have felt when taking them. Morning has Broken immediately made me think of my dad. I can remember him singing it, even though he wasn’t one to sing. I think he loved its message as you do. Thank you for that. I loved all this! SO much.
Thank you, Donna! Yes, both songs make me sing along!
Thank you❤️
Inspirational, beautiful, perfect, Ann-Christine! A wonderful world, indeed, especially when seen through your lens.
You are always positive, Sofia, and these two last weeks have been extra wonderful! Coming home tonight.
A wonderful blend of words and images.
Thank you, Margaret! I loved this challenge. Tough to be away but coming home today!
‘Tough to be away’? You always seem to have fabulous times when away from home. But your home is lovely too.
Oh…I meant with so many weeks not being able to read or answer anything. Too expensive from Japan! But now I am back, and recovering from the jetlag…
Love your photo from the dew drops…
💚
Everything is just so good with the photos flowing with the music. Love it Ann-Christine 🥰
Thank you, Brian – a lovely challenge!
Perfect pairings-A-C. Jist seeing hints made me happy. Louis Armstrong is the only one for that song. 🥰. I love songs in minor keys, so maybe I’d make a good Swede. 😁
I am sure you would make a great Swede, Janet!
These are beautiful photos and music pairings. And like you, I love What A Wonderful World and Louise Armstrong’s gravelly voice!
😊
A truly wonderful world 😊
☺️
Great choices Ann-Christine! Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World has been playing on the radio station I listen to. How’s that for serendipity. And I love your images for Morning Has Broken. You have me thinking of how to create my response.
Thank you so much, Anne, coming home today so there will be much and mane to respond to!
😊
Ann-Christine, you really tugged the string of my heart. I absolutely love your two songs. The photos you shared are magnificent. The photos so vividly echoed the songs. I’m touched by the beautiful images you shared. Thank you!
Thank you for a wonderful challenge, Egidio! Coming home today, so could not easily answer before!
Wonderful, Ann-Christine! The images and the music they represent. It’s a wonderful world through your lens indeed.
So glad you enjoyed them! Thank you!
Ann-Christine, I did not know the history of Morning Has Broken, only that it was one of my favorite Cat Stevens songs. Also, you taught me much I didn’t know about What a Wonderful World. Perfect choices for your post, and your photos are breathtakingly beautiful.
How wonderful that they also resonated with you! Thank you!
Ah gorgoeus and so mystical
Thank you!
Beautiful Ann-Christine – no surprise there. I adore both of the songs you chose although I didn’t think of them for the challenge. I’m so glad you did! Your morning images are especially glorious.
Thank you, Tina! Coming home today, so planned for some Japanese youngsters for you.
Perfect picture choices for beautiful songs
Thank you, Karina!
