This week I have chosen for us to illustrate favourite quotes. Personally, I love quotes, and I believe many of us do – some maybe even collect memorable quotes in a book or a file on the computer or phone. There is much to learn from old wisdom – and wit…that speaks to us.This week you can choose one quote accompanied with a maximum of five pictures or a maximum of five quotes illustrated with one picture each. Make us ”feel”your quote(s) in pictures!
These are my choices!

“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry. Don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”
— Walter Hagen
“Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive.”
– Hafez

“Each time you read a book, a tree smiles knowing there’s life after death”
– Unknown
“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.”
– Unknown

“Just living is not enough … one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”
— Hans Christian Andersen
I am very much looking forward to seeing what you have chosen and how you have illustrated your quote(s)! Please use the Lens-Artists tag and link to my original post.
A huge thank you to Beth for last week’s looking back challenge. I was lucky to just have returned from mountains of water and I believe all of us really love water … the diversity and beauty of your posts gave us many tips for the future! Next week it is Annes turn to lead us, be sure to visit her beautiful site for inspiration. Until then, keep well, be nice and enjoy your days.

I enjoyed your pairings. Very clever.
It’s a nice challenge. Here’s my response: https://anotherglobaleater.wordpress.com/2026/05/06/unbroken/
Thank you, I.J.
I love matching quotes and photos (although it can be difficult). I like all your choices, my favourite is the photo of the trees and the accompanying quote (although, I fear somebody will have to come up with something clever in the near future when books will become rareties belonging to weirdos). Asked for a quote without any other specification I need to limit myself, I decided to stick with one of my favourite authors: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2026/05/05/one-author-four-quotes/
Thank you – and yes…but I will always be a weirdo…
Such uplifting quotes and images, Ann-Christine. I especially like the Hans Christian Andersen quote with your lovely Pasque flowers.

Gorgeous gallery and a beautiful theme. Your quotes are perfect. I love that beautiful garden in your first photo.
Thank you, Suzette – that was my dream garden, and now the old couple who lived there are gone – as is the garden…
You are welcome Ann-Christine. I am sorry the garden is gone you have however some beautiful photos to remember it by.
Yes, I treasure them.
And here is mine. I wasn’t sure I could do this, but once I got stuck in, it all came together. Thanks Ann-Christine, for a Challenge-and-a-Half! https://margaret21.com/2026/05/04/im-singing-in-the-rain-just-singing-in-the-rain/
Thanks for participating!
Beautiful images and quotes Ann-Christine and such a wonderful combination to play with! Our contribution for this week’s lovely challenge is here: https://tranature.com/2026/05/03/where-thoughts-travel-with-you/
Thank you so much, Xenia! Happy you liked it!
A creative theme Ann-Christine. I love the way you choose quotes and the images.
Thank you, Rupali – I am glad you like it!
hello a.c.
What a great theme and a wonderful selection of photos you’ve chosen for this challenge.
I really like them.
Here’s my entry for this week, https://wp.me/pfnz9O-11T.
Many greetings, Robert
Thank you!
Great idea for a theme! You’ve paired your quotes and images perfectly 🙂 I especially like the first one, and the unknown one too (both quote and accompanying image).
I often use quotes and I’ve been saving one for a while as while I liked it, it didn’t fit any of my most recent travels. You’ve given me the perfect excuse to make use of it: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-from-a-train-window/
I am curious…
I am going to enjoy seeing the quotes that people pair with their photos. I’m going to try to give my response a twist.
By the way, I first viewed your post in the reader, but when I went to comment directly on your site, I discovered your theme is much more impressive on your site than it is when displayed in the reader.
I think that goes for all ! The difference I mean.
Those quotes were just sitting waiting for you to find the perfect image . And find them you did! My favourite pairing in a crowded field is the Hans Christian Andersen.
So glad you picked that one! Thank you!
👍
I especially love the Hans Christian Anderson quote and the accompanying photo.
Well, Dawn – you picked a favourite of mine as well! Glad you enjoyed!

Your example quotes and photos are absolutely amazing. Every single one.
Thank you ever so much!
♥
What a great collection of quotes and images, Ann-Christine.
Collecting quotes is one of my pastimes and I know others are the same. Since I rarely remember them, I’ll have to dive into my quote folder for the challenge.
I know, I know…I have a folder too…my memory is good – but short!
You have just made me smile on a somewhat negative day . . . thank you ??! ________________________________
Oh, negative? How?
Love this challenge A-C and your examples. My favourite quote is the one from Hafez. So true. Here is my entry: https://wanderingteresa.com/quotes-inspired-by-unforgettable-times/
Thank you, Teresa – just returned from your lovely post! So much to relate to and wonderful choices!
Thanks A-C.
Thank you, Teresa!

Oh this is an interesting twist on the weekly challenge! Your examples are beautiful, I love the colour’s, and the flower at that angle is very cool. Such beautiful quotes!
Thank you, Pam!

Thank you, Egidio –
The tree and life after death. Wow. Great photos.
Thank you, Rebecca!
Well Ann-Christine, you know I love my quotes so your challenge is one of my favorites ever. Your images are perfect as well. The two floral images are so very lovely, and I think the image of you (?) with your children is priceless. I hope it is hanging in your home or framed beside your bed. I’d not seen the quote with the trees before and it’s truly wonderful. Here’s my response this week https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/2026/05/02/lens-artists-challenge-396-illustrate-a-quote/.
Thank you, Tina! And I still have only one of my photos on my wall…and that’s a tree I won a competition with…
well, I don’t usually do quotes so I’m gonna have to do a bit of hunting, but you have paired your images with quotes so well. love the image for the Hargan quote, I think it’s a garden that used to be near you but I can remember you telling me about, and the Hafez with you as a young woman and your two is great!
Thank you, Sue – looking forward to seeing your Post!
Hmmm,not sure it will happen!
……Oh yes it will!
There’s a lot of truth here, darlin. I’ll be close to my loved ones within the hour. I can’t wait xx
♥ Good!
I have to love this post, I don’t usually do quotes… But, you do them so well, I can always enjoy your pairings 🙂 The trees are a favourite, how could they not be? Wonderful post, Ann-Christine.
Here is mine:
♥ Thank you, Sofia!
Ann-Christine, I love all of your quotes and images. My favorite is the Walter Hagen quote and image. Thanks for this great challenge.
I am glad you like it, Beth! Looking forward to seeing your post!
Lovely images to go with your quotes, ans this one is so true: “The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.” – Unknown
