Lens-Artists Challenge # 396 – Pick a Favourite Quote and Illustrate it.

This week I have chosen for us to illustrate favourite quotes. Personally, I love quotes, and I believe many of us do – some maybe even collect memorable quotes in a book or a file on the computer or phone. There is much to learn from old wisdom – and wit…that speaks to us.This week you can choose one quote accompanied with a maximum of five pictures or a maximum of five quotes illustrated with one picture each. Make us ”feel”your quote(s) in pictures!

These are my choices!

“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry. Don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”

— Walter Hagen

“Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive.”

– Hafez

“Each time you read a book, a tree smiles knowing there’s life after death”

– Unknown

“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.”

– Unknown

“Just living is not enough … one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”

— Hans Christian Andersen

I am very much looking forward to seeing what you have chosen and how you have illustrated your quote(s)! Please use the Lens-Artists tag and link to my original post.

A huge thank you to Beth for last week’s looking back challenge. I was lucky to just have returned from mountains of water and I believe all of us really love water … the diversity and beauty of your posts gave us many tips for the future! Next week it is Annes turn to lead us, be sure to visit her beautiful site for inspiration. Until then, keep well, be nice and enjoy your days.

  2. I love matching quotes and photos (although it can be difficult). I like all your choices, my favourite is the photo of the trees and the accompanying quote (although, I fear somebody will have to come up with something clever in the near future when books will become rareties belonging to weirdos). Asked for a quote without any other specification I need to limit myself, I decided to stick with one of my favourite authors: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2026/05/05/one-author-four-quotes/

  3. I am going to enjoy seeing the quotes that people pair with their photos. I’m going to try to give my response a twist.

By the way, I first viewed your post in the reader, but when I went to comment directly on your site, I discovered your theme is much more impressive on your site than it is when displayed in the reader.

  4. Those quotes were just sitting waiting for you to find the perfect image . And find them you did! My favourite pairing in a crowded field is the Hans Christian Andersen.

  5. What a great collection of quotes and images, Ann-Christine.

Collecting quotes is one of my pastimes and I know others are the same. Since I rarely remember them, I’ll have to dive into my quote folder for the challenge.

  7. Well Ann-Christine, you know I love my quotes so your challenge is one of my favorites ever. Your images are perfect as well. The two floral images are so very lovely, and I think the image of you (?) with your children is priceless. I hope it is hanging in your home or framed beside your bed. I’d not seen the quote with the trees before and it’s truly wonderful. Here’s my response this week https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/2026/05/02/lens-artists-challenge-396-illustrate-a-quote/.

  8. well, I don’t usually do quotes so I’m gonna have to do a bit of hunting, but you have paired your images with quotes so well. love the image for the Hargan quote, I think it’s a garden that used to be near you but I can remember you telling me about, and the Hafez with you as a young woman and your two is great!
