Macro Monday

The days just fly…and it is Monday again. In Sweden the first snow has arrived, and further north it is staying white.

My photos this week are from my garden last week – when we had some magical, glittering mornings.

Asters unfurling in the warming sun

Until reaching their full splendour

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #17: Just For FUN!

Just for fun – is Patti’s challenge for this week. Well,  I cannot promise any fantastic shots from me …but I promise I had fun taking these photos!

In the header, four of my students, in Madrid, on their last trip together before graduating. Can you figure out how they did this ”thing”? I still cannot…

For many years the whole family traveled through Europe by car every summer. Sometimes we had to wait for hours in long queues, especially on Autobahn in Germany – so, here’s my daughter trying to cheer things up…

A favorite photo I have shared on WordPress before… from Figueres, 2011.

My children are a great source of fun…always…

A photo I had to take, since we all are great Lotr fans, and my daughter found a Uruk Hai warrior (he really was one of the actors in the movies!) at Matamata, NZ…

I guess his son was a bit surprised…This young dad in Rome jumped up on a fountain lion himself…

And finally, I caught the biggest fish in Gore, NZ…

Grey Light and Faded Roses

Today we woke up to a grey day with hail, snow and heavy raindrops.

Clearly a day for staying in bed…

For a short second, a sun ray touched the vase with the faded roses –

… and then – everything went back to grey again. I feel lucky to snuggle up by the Asparagus africanus, that is covering the French windows in my living room. So grateful for a house to live in – roof over my head – and a warming meal.

A Friday Forest Shower with Me and Totti

Come with us for a morning walk – an autumn forest shower!

The crisp, cold mornings are the best ones…

And you know, Totti shares all his secret treasures with me…his best paths and digging holes for example…

Mostly I am ahead of him, because he is getting a bit slow – turning 11 next time – but still going strong. I always wait for him to catch up of course.

And we are the best friends – now and forever. I hope you have a best friend too!

Thursday Thoughts – A Double Farewell

These foggy mornings – forebodings of November grey – still have their own beauty.

My father just turned 85, and our daughter flew home for the celebration last weekend – despite having a big exam three days later. Love ♥

Driving her to the airport – she wanted a walk in our forest once more. So brother and sister walked ahead of us, chatting and laughing, but also talking about serious things.

Forests are good listeners. Up north, where she is heading, there are no autumn colours, only firs and pine trees.

So, when she left, this autumn’s last colours were mirrored in the little lake in the early morning light. I hope Emma will picture them in her mind during the long winter darkness in Umeå.

CFFC: Things People Drive…

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Things People Drive (ride, pilot or captain)

Drones…are maybe not well liked by all of us…but this one is for mapping an area of scientific interest.

Motorbikes – driven by old gentlemen!

Taking down the forest – is done by these big machines nowadays.

Galapagos friends found when traveling with a” panga”.

The reindeer races at the yearly Sami market in Västerbotten, Sweden.

In the header, The Kingston Flyer of New Zealand.

Tuesday Photo Challenge: Surprise

Surprise is the least I can say about these examples! This weeks Tuesday challenge was easily filled….with lovely surprises from my past.

Walking in a park in Rome some years ago, I really had to look twice, or maybe four times…because these cats seemed to have special seats on exactly this bench. And they did not move even if I hauled out a camera…

Some days my Totti got a short visit from his daughter, Belezza. Totti is a very calm and considerate dog, but his face when Belezza performs some of her youthful tricks…

Then a fond memory from traveling with my students to Madrid…We visited a market, where things unseen and unheard of, never seen the likes of…turned up. One of my young girls just had to see and feel if this thing was real…

Macro Monday

So, I finally bought myself a macro lens, something I have been thinking about for some years now. ”To See a World in a Grain of Sand…” – now more true than ever.

I hope you will enjoy following my attempts to find hidden worlds! I would love to hear your experiences and tips from your own macro photography as well. Learning new things are always a great joy.

So, here’s to Macro Monday!
