The Weekly Photo Challenge from WordPress this week is ‘My Neighbourhood’.
All photos should be taken with a mobile phone, but any device is OK, Cheri says. So, I have used both. This is where I live, from dawn til dusk!
Jag älskar kyrkogårdar och gamla ruiner, så när temat för onlinetidningen LetsBeWild den här gången var Svart och Vitt – då var mina bilder givna. Scarborough med Bram Stokers Whitby som kuliss för greve Dracula och Haworth med den fantastiskt vackra kyrkogården intill den prästgård där systrarna Brontë växte upp. Här står de vittrade gravstenar som kantade Lucys nattliga vandringar och här slingrar de stigar som andades av Cathys och Heathcliffs förtärande kärlek. Vandra med mig i Bram Stokers och Emily Brontës fotspår!
I love to visit churches, ruins and old graveyards, so when the theme from LetsBeWild this week was Black and White there was no doubt where I would go…to Scarborough in England. Haworth and the parsonage, where the famous Brontë sisters lived, and Whitby with its Dracula setting from Bram Stokers legendary novel. My photos were not in black and white from the start, but it was allowed to change them for the challenge. So, walk with me in the footsteps of Stoker and the Brontës!
Here in Whitby Bram Stoker found a setting worthy of count Dracula, and in this graveyard Lucy was sleepwalking and sitting in the night on one of the benches high above the sea.
The Brontë parsonage with its beautiful graveyard… I could feel the prescence of Cathy and Heathcliff – their consuming love for ever alive in Emily Brontës masterpiece Wuthering Heights.
Onlinemagasinet LetsBeWild har ett nytt tema – Se upp! Mina bilder till temat blir varierade – men, tanken är att om du tittar upp från din mobil eller din dator ibland, så finns det en plats för dig att kalla Hem också. Look Up! Is the theme for LetBeWild this week. I have chosen pictures thinking about both mind and body… You can easily lose yourself in this world of technology, at least if you are young, and maybe lose that basic, important feeling of a caring home and warm belonging. So, a little reminder from me…

Veckans utmaning från WordPress handlar om att fastna i detaljer. Mina två bidrag kommer båda från Tibet. Den första från två tempelväggar i Gyantze, den andra från Pothalapalatset i Lhasa.
My first contribution to being lost in details is from two temple walls in Gyantze, Tibet. Talking of details – so much time, effort and skill is put into this work.
The second one is from the Pothala Palace, the painted figures sitting over a window.

Onlinemagasinet LetsBeWild har soluppgång/ sunrise som veckans utmaning…när ska vi få se en sådan här i Skåne? Jag har gett upp, och inte bara för att jag gärna sover någon timme längre när jag är ledig – kanske till halv åtta istället för till klockan sex – utan också för att den grå tonen över landskapet här nere inte vill lämna plats för en enda liten morgonsolstråle.
Mitt bidrag fick bli ett mobilfoto från i höstas. Det var en fantastiskt vacker, daggfräsch morgon på väg till mitt arbete. Jag blev bara tvungen att stanna till och försöka fånga en glimt av känslan.
Sunrise – an event I haven’t captured many of with a camera… I love to sleep late when I can. As I am up at six o’clock every working day, I think I’m entitled to sleep until at least half past seven when I’m free…
For this challenge, I have given up the thought of a new photo possibility. The only existing colour here, this winter, seems to be grey. So, this photo was taken last autumn, with my mobile phone, an early morning on my way to work. It was such a fresh and dewy hour of sunrise, and I just had to stop and try to catch something of that dreamy feeling.

A bridge can mean many things… but my choices are mostly concrete and tangible ones – they are constructed by man. Only one of them is different…a celestial bridge.

There are many suggestions how to picture this theme, but I quite fell in love with this scene from a street somewhere in Spain. More than one thing is going – or looking – forward here…
Love at first sight and the first kiss!
Jo, en utmaning som handlar om kyssar är inte den lättaste att klara av…vem går runt och fotograferar folk som kysser varandra? En högst privat sysselsättning, anser jag. Men Milles och Tottis första möte sommaren 2008 innehåller både kärlek och respekt – och en kyss… Hundar vet när den andre bara är en valp och uppför sig därefter, och Mille var exemplarisk. Faktiskt en alltför snäll extrapappa som lät Totti göra blodöra ett par gånger och tillät de flesta bus…
For this WordPress challenge – Kiss – Mille and Totti first met on a sunny day in the summer of 2008. This is their first meeting – and it was a total success. Mille was a fantastic ”father” and so patient with his ”son” whatever he did…the little one. We had to go to the vet a couple of times because Mille let little Totti chew his ear so violently that he got what was called a ”blood ear”. The vet had to tap him of the blood – but Mille said nothing…
They are still best friends and kiss very often! My beautiful boys…
Att vandra är en stor passion och har så varit hela livet för mig. Jag är uppvuxen vid randen av skogen, och dess stigar och träd är nära och kära för mig. Vad väcker din vandringslust? frågar LetsBeWild i sin onlinetidning. För mig är det självklart: Alla stigar och vägar som vindlande försvinner bort i fjärran eller in i okänt land. De får gärna ha gräs i mitten… Oemotståndligt lockande är de – både på bild och i verkligheten.
”The term wanderlust originates from the German words wandern (to hike) and Lust (desire). The term wandern, frequently misused as a false friend, does in fact not mean ”to wander”, but ”to hike.” Placing the two words together, translated: ”enjoyment of hiking”, although it is commonly described as an enjoyment of strolling, roaming about or wandering.” This is Wikipedia’s explanation to wanderlust – which is the challenge for this week from the online magazine LetsBeWild.
Wanderlust, then, gets me when I see a path or a road – winding, flat or tricky – and I don’t know what will happen around the bend, where it is heading…I just want to follow it to find out…
It can be a path full of old, beautiful roots making the hiking treacherous
– or it could be a dangerous adventure where I might lose a leg or two if I’m unlucky…
It could also be a stump of a road in the middle of a beautiful nowhere…
…or a narrow foot-bridge disappearing into the rainforest.
Wanderlust has got many faces, I guess, depending on who you are…but for me, the long and winding road is essential as a trigger.
Hem – hur vill du beskriva det? Det är inte alls dumt med WordPress utmaningar, för du tvingas tänka efter vad du egentligen lägger in i vissa begrepp som du annars inte funderar så mycket över. Du bara tar deras innebörd för given, för självklar. Mina bildval visar en trygg plats för lugn och avkoppling, en plats där livet har ett långsammare tempo och där min familj och mina vänner kan vara sig själva – i all enkelhet. En plats att längta till, som är utan biltrafik och som innehåller vilda blommor, vita spetsgardiner och sommar.
From WordPress the challenge is Home. This simple word means so much to us all. For me, only positive thoughts. Mostly about my childhood, but also about all the places in the world where I have had a distinct feeling of being at home.
To choose something that sums it up – something that gives me that soft and safe feeling of complete rest and peace must be our summer home. Here I am at peace with myself. My family is here, much laughter and joy, good food and games to play. It’s calm, quiet and a tiny world of old things from days gone by. The sea and the gulls is all I hear when I wake up in the mornings.
