Travel theme: Doorways

I know there are many of us who love doors, so I will not tire you with too many…only three. One from Tibet, one from Gdansk, Poland and one from my home town in Sweden. If you didn’t know my favourite colours before – you will now!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Express Yourself Fearlessly Like David Bowie

Adore this!

Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.–Bruce Lee

It’s easy to spot the pretenders–the ones who are imitating others instead of expressing their true selves.  It takes courage to stand out and be different.  It’s not simply a matter of putting on a bright shade of lipstick, wearing edgy clothes, or dying your hair neon pink.  It has more to do with authenticity.  Expressing your unique thoughts and unique identity.

For me, an artist that epitomizes self expression is David Bowie.  We were lucky to get tickets to a recent exhibit about the artist and his work at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.   The show, called ”Bowie Is” reveals the range of the artist’s work in music, theater, film, costume design, and even hairstyles.

# 62 Farkost – Boat (60/365)

From a trip to Peru and Lake Titicaca in 1987. Reed boats are still used among the Uru indians and the famous Thor Heyerdahl proved to the world how much they can take, sailing Ra and Ra II.

My lamb skin rug will be the heavy waves here…

# 181 Länge sedan – A long time ago (58/365)

A long time ago these authors and adventurers were very famous. The two books on my table have seen better days, but they are still very interesting.

#164 Lapp på lapp – Notes on notes (57/365)

My children still bring home literature for the fridge and change the notes every month.

This container doesn’t contain what it says – it’s filled with sea shells found on the shores of New Zealand.

# 291 Stenhård – Hard as Stone (54/365)

In Vedema there are huge rocks and boulders thrown out among the trees. Surely left from the latest ice age, they stand hard as stone against the soft mossy ground.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: This Land is My Land

As I was walking that ribbon of highway,
I saw above me that endless skyway:
I saw below me that golden valley:
This land was made for you and me.
I’ve roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps,
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
And all around me a voice was sounding:
This land was made for you and me.

Of course Cee’s challenge must be applied on my own country and land – Sweden.
