For Paula this week – Building turf houses in Iceland.
Iceland
CFFC: Sunset to Sunrise
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Sunset to Sunrise (including any nighttime photography)
40 metres up in the canopy of the Amazon jungle – the most fantastic ever, of my sunsets experienced. The sounds from the jungle. The warmth. The stillness. A total sense of belonging and being one with nature. A religious feeling.
Returning to our lodge, leaving the canoes and heading for the welcoming lights.
Iceland, winter sunset on the south coast.
Returning to Reykjavik through the cold landscape – some icelandic horses on the horizon.
The header photo was taken from camel back, a sunset in the Morockan desert.
Thursday’s Special: Wintry
Paula, at Lost in Translation, asks us for Wintry… at least in our photos this week. As I posted my best ones this winter yesterday, I return to Iceland for some Real ”wintries.”
Cee’s B&W Photo Challenge: Chilled
Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Chilled
Cee wants a real chill this week – so my choice is Iceland. A chilled greenhouse(!) and tough winds with drifting snow.
WPC: Serene
Ben asks us for a photo of Serene –
Serene, calm and quiet. So valuable and so rare. So precious in this busy world.
My most precious – the sea and the sky at our summer house. Early morning, no wind, silence, blue sky, welcoming the new day.
Then – the Icelandic landscape, sunset on the south coast in winter. Earthy, low sky, settling the day.
Serenity
WPC: Glow
Most people love things that glow. Who can resist… a sunset? My choice for this week’s challenge is a photo from Iceland and the winter sun’s last glow after a glorious day.
CFFC: Letter I – Needs to start with the letter I
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Letter I – Needs to start with the letter I
The letter I, from Cee’s challenge, meant some memorable moments – In the header: Icehotel, Jukkasjärvi, Sweden.
Ice cold Iceland
Icelandic horses

CFFC: Hot and Cold
WPC: Names
Skyr is a delicious Icelandic youghurt that has been a part of Icelandic cuisine for over a thousand years. It is traditionally served cold with milk and a topping of sugar. For a short while Skyr was available in our local food store (after my constant wishing for it…), but as it was rather expensive…I think they did not make enough profit from it…so, Iceland is the only option to get it…
But I love the taste of it and I love its Name!
CFFC: Locks, Keys, Knobs and Handles
For Cee this week, I found this one…shot in Iceland. A greenhouse late in the evening.
Find more interesting locks, keys, knobs and handles here.
