The WordPress challenge this week is about adventure. The greatest adventure is Life, the life we have been given. We don’t know anything about what’s waiting just around the corner…we only know that we all are going to die one day. This is what we all have in common.
My greatest adventure then, is following my children grow up and helping them discover the world, themselves and their special gifts and possibilities.
My daughter, my eldest child, is now turning 24. Even if she has travelled with us to many places in the world, her greatest adventure was living and working with nature issues in New Zealand. She stayed for two months, learned many important things, and was a different person when she came back home.
My son has not yet been working abroad, but here he is hiking the Azoric island of Flores. A great adventure for us all.
So…following the two of them along their different paths…
…on their adventures – is my great adventure. And the thing is, that you never know what’s waiting around the corner. What is prepared just for you? Surely an adventure worth entering upon!

I agree Leya, life is one big adventure and an ultimate challenge for parents is to see their children grow and mature. Your children, now adults, are beautiful people.

it is beautiful what you have written, Ann-Christine… and though my two kids are younger of age, I can so relate… exploring the world together with your children is a big adventure, a life-chaning one 🙂
Leya, I’m trolling through the pingbacks for the photo challenge to see which friends I’ve missed or which new ones I can find. I agree that children are a grand adventure (sometimes an annoying adventure, but…) 🙂 Love the photos.

Grand they are!
That’s just a great photo with the walls and paths winding around the landscape. Fine composition! And thanks for liking my adventure post. 🙂
Thank you!
Brilliant take on! I agree children are out great adventure. Love these photos.
Thank you, Amy – and they are the future – so, hence adventure!
It must be, Ann Christine ! – and I, remembering well those shots of your family together, am quite sure that both the children will be an adventure of which you are SO PROUD !
Oh, I’m so proud of them – I really am. In this hopeless world, they manage to be sunny and positive. A necessity of course, but difficult. That’s why I love working with young people too. When I’ve almost given up hope on mankind – they constantly prove me wrong! And – I’m awfully proud of my dog(s) as well. Happy creatures full of love. I know it’s the same with cats too, and all pets. We do need each other!
I think you can be pretty relaxed about the way you’ve brought up your children, you two.
AND your pets !
When it comes to your teaching, I arrive at the conclusion that you must be an all-round well-balanced person, Ann-Christine ! 😀
He, he all-round OK, but balanced…I’m glad that’s your impression! I seldom feel balanced, though, but have to be as I work with growing people…Maybe they keep me going? Pitch black holes often seem to open up under my feet, but somehow these shiny new human lights manage to fill the darkness with a flickering, multicoloured lovelight. I wish I had the humour and stamina that you have, dearest M.R!
Pfuh !
I posted about your marvellous discovery of The Article … 🙂

”The greatest adventure is Life”. Well said, Leya. Life is always full of surprises, happy and sad moments. New faces and old faces. It’s never boring 🙂
No, never boring. Only sometimes sad. Hopefully the happy moments will be best remembered.
Our children certainly do take us on great adventures.
They do. They are the future, and the future noone knows anything about.
Beautiful post. 🙂
Thank you, Imelda.
Oh yes, so true. The cildren are our greatest adventure!!!
😀
