As I found the magpies are energetically building their nest even if it is snowing, I remembered a series I took when the neighbours’ cat ventured up to supervise…

I’m surprised the cat was brave enough to venture into the magpies territory. I once had a cat in NZ who would not go outside when the maggies were around because they dive-bombed him.
They usually do…Some years ago I watched them jumping in the tree where the cat frantically tried to get away from them…they pinched his tail and head. One from above him and the other under him. Poor cat…they really co-worked to get him!
Your cat reminds me of Tuffy, my sweet cat that I had several years back… she was a tree climber too.. I did not know Magpies made such messy nests, which explains a lot, since my nickname is Magpie and I am too busy to worry about neatness. (my spouse just shakes his head and cleans up after me, he is wonderful)
I imagine that to the magpies, that’s a bit like setting a cat among the pigeons. 🙂 Or magpies. I doubt they’d go for this once there are babies. Great catch!

I love magpies and their attitude, love the way they strut around
I do as well – but I hate them eating my little newborn birds in spring…
Oh dear I didn’t know they did that 😱
A great story, Ann-Christine! I can just imagine the raucous cries of the magpies when the cat was ”inspecting” their nest!
Not popular, no…he had better watch out or his tail could end up in the building process…
What a delight to watch the meanderings, well done.
Thank you – it was great fun😉
A very very strange bird. 🙂 🙂 🙂
😁
Brave cat!
He was!

Agree. When they have young ones the cat will lose its tail😉
Farligt för Skatorna och katten när de väl fått ungar
Det är det. Men här höll de fortfarande på att bygga.
