Thursday Thoughts – Finally, Chihuly

Many of you have featured works of Dale Chihuly, and I have longed to see them with my own eyes. In Seattle I finally did. So, I guess he needs no introduction – just enjoy!

Starting with the ceiling:

Floor – Ikebana boat and Niijima Floats.

Both his own boats.

Glorious displays everywhere in the rooms.

Next week I will post some more, chandeliers, from his pavillion and from the garden too. He is an extraordinary artist. They showed a movie on his life, work and exhibitions. I needed that to understand how spontaneous his ideas come up, and how it is possible to transport these enormous glassworks all over the world.

  1. This is really exceptionally beautiful and almost unbelievable how this artist manages all this. The colors are beautiful and the special shapes make it seem like you have entered a completely different world. Thanks for the beautiful images !

    • Thank you for commenting too, and I am so glad you found his flowers or creatures – or whatever they are – beautiful! I think of the sea when I see them.

  2. Crazily wonderful, aren’t they? As Jude says, sea creatures, anemones and giant scallops rippling with life. Not just to imagine them but to create them is completely amazing, as are your photographs.

  3. A totally new artist and work for me – homework needed . . . obviously much imagination and colour . . . the latter oft not favoured by me . . . ?

  4. I love his work and have been fortunate to see quite a number of his installations, including some of what you shared so beautifully. Thanks for reminding me of the gorgeous colors and shapes he and his fellow artisans produce!  😍
