In general, April is the last month of Winter/Spring, and after it…comes the most beautiful month in Sweden – at least according to me. May.

It’s been a strange year, this last one. No snow – for the first time in my entire life.

This picture was taken in April 2013. This used to be the ordinary look of April.

It is warming up – or, we are warming up our planet. In fact, 2024 has been the warmest year ever on planet Earth.

Our glaciers are melting fast – and they are our fresh water reserves. Today I heard again that in Norway and Sweden they melt the fastest. Many of them are already gone.

But the Wood Anemonies are still flowering, and the glorious Spring light allows us to forget our troubles and what lies ahead of us.

Your landscapes are amazing, you are a nature artist.
Thank you
A sad reflection on the impact of climate change if your usual April snow has deserted you. But those wood anemones are gorgeous!
Thank you, Sarah – they are still in full swing. Glorious walks!
A glorious post, full of memorable photos: and facts about the climate that it’s uncomfortable to know about.
Thank you – I try not to think about it too much. Depressing.
Dear Ann-Christine
We love your second and your last picture, especially.
Here we have spring temperatures and sunshine all day long for weeks. We had the feeling that we had May already in March and April. The problem is that we didn’t have any rain.
Happy holidays
The Fab Four of Cley
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you – and, no rain here either. Another summer 2018?
I have always loved the month of May, how do you used to go on holiday at that time of year. The tragedy is the climate change is a man-made disaster
True. We did it to ourselves and all living things on planet Earth. I hope nobody succeeds in finding another planet to destroy.
Indeed
Oh dear, no denying climate change with those statistics, 2024 was our hottest year ever and yet we are having catastrophic floods too. Crazy, unsettling weather world wide
Oh – yes – but we are guilty of it ourselves… poor grandchildren.
the one with the grass is really stunning
Thank you!
Beautiful photos!
Surprised that Sweden had no snow…
Thank you – I am afraid that is something that gets worse every year. It’s only a matter of tiome before our big ski events won’t be able to run.
😟
It looks like a wonderful geography but sad that you have no snow and glaciers melting with climate change.
Sad it is – but much worse in Nepal and Tibet for example. The melting glaciers make whole valleys waterfilled, drenching all the villages there. Yes, it is sad.
