Yes – I have wanted to go to this yearly gathering at Hornborgasjön for years, and finally, last year I did go. I’ll go again if possible – If you are interested I did a post on it afterwards.
They gather every year here at Hornborgasjön in Sweden. In Great numbers – usually around 20000-27000 . I did a post when I had visited in March 2014. If you want you can search my site for it. Unforgettable days. I saw them flying in from their safe sleeping places as well. In the early morning before sunrise. Enigmatic. Unforgettable.
I have seen them out here in Rajasthan, India during last winter season – a year back. They fly in from Mongolia in huge numbers, running in thousands. The way the land in a group is must experience!
I agree – how wonderful that you can see them there! Landing on a lake or?
what a sight to behold
oh wow! what a capture! beautiful! 🙂
They are…truly wonderful! Thank you!
Wow, how many! Like to be there 🙂
You should go if you can! March, April they come in tens of thousands!
I have never seen that much! But when I get older, the less I leave home… 😦
😦
19000 cranes, incredible! Such a beautiful capture. 🙂
Incredible it was. They come here every year. 20-27000 of them.

It’s not really a lake, more of a small pond.
Wow….great sight to see
Is that a Swedish gathering? 😉
It certainly is – yearly. I think the record is 26-27000 birds.
Incredibly large gathering!
