They are cranes. A couple of years ago I went to Hornborgasjön, the lake where they gather in thousands before going further north. That year we had more than 16000 the day we arrived. A feast! This photo is from a lake near my home where this day 6300 cranes were counted. My daughter joined me – she had never seen that many before. It is so special to see them flying in for the night and seeing them dance to find a mate. Majestic birds.
Great shots!
Thanks!
What beautiful cranes. Do they breed in this place?
No, they move further up to the northern parts of Sweden. But always stop to rest and feed here.
They certainly are lovely creatures
Yes. I caught a couple of them by the road today – slowly walking and eating. I will post it soon.
🙂
Ah, what a marvellous sight!
Yes – and only half an hour from here!
Marvellous!
Isn’t it!
All those cranes!
What a marvellous sighting! ❤ I had lots of birds in my yesterday's post too (you saw some on Facebook).
Thanks, Manja – I’ll pop over!
So many of them! So beautiful!
They are, Aletta!
What a scene!

What are these birds. They look a bit like a grey flamingo>

are all them going to Saskatoon ❓
These ones are going to the middle of Sweden to breed.
I wonder if some of those still on the ground are wondering ”where are they going?” 🙂
😀
Another sign that spring has started.
